It’s not stupid that a kid dies? I think if you hated this movie you wouldn’t have cared lol anyway I love this movie a lot! Spider and his dad plot goes over peoples heads guess it’s hard to understand. At base value it’s hard to get . And loak is a good character and yeah I can see both sides . I think one thing that is constantly forgotten is that they are children. They don’t make wise decisions they make stupid decisions. The older brother had strict parenting so he was different. Also I love the corporal his ark goes across movies that’s what James said . I wish I could sit and explain things so you could understand! It’s too much to type!!

I actually am curious what you’re explanation is for spider character arc with his dad. Also I believe chalking it up to “they’re children” is some of the laziest writing you can do lol. It was a weird way to push the plot. Something goes wrong, oh it’s because one of the kids made a dumb mistake. Idk it’s watered down to me and isnt as impactful as an actual problem being made

Oh cool you replied! Okay okay let me start!! Okay so with spider I ain’t gonna lie he does a lot of dumb crap not saying he doesn’t . If you pay attention the one spider is closest with is kiri. He knows full well netiyiry hates him .( forgive the spelling xD ) yes he was close with the other kids as well but anyway ignore this . Spider wasn’t a plot device fully cause he was barely in it . But tbh spiders roll wasn’t meant to be really in this movie . It’s tough to explain, I can’t hate spider really cause not much has been done with him yet! Using their kids . Might be an excuse but they are and the one who makes the most kiddish mistake is for sure loak . But I really like loak I think it’s because I was an outcast as a kid . And no matter what I did it felt like I was always at fault! I’d love to talk to you some more please ask me anything I love talking about these films . The theory is that eywa impregnated graces avatar which is why she’s so different. Ask me anything I’ll try to explain!

I don't think i'm really gonna change your mind about anything but the Spider stuff made sense to me. It was clear even though he was raised by Naavi he was never really part of the family. Like Neytiri being fully willing to kill him was kinda the icing on the cake. Even in the beginning he got taken and they didn't really care. It's not because they dislike him but he's just not a part of their group like that. Spider saving Quaritch was definitley shitty but writing wise it made sense given Quaritch actually saw Spider like family and was willing to sacrifice his own goals for him. Definitely hateable character but not bad writing imo.

Neytiri was quite literally the only person who didn’t seem to care for him. Every one else did. He grew up with them. Played with them. Learned from them. Betraying them for some random ass guy he comes across is really crazy

I think part of the decision from Spider to save his dads life is that if he left him to die then he’s just like his dad. He thinks of his dad as someone willing to kill/harm others without empathy and for his own personal gain. If spider let his dad die, in his mind he is doing the same shit his dad does. He wants to be a better person than his dad
