I don’t look at shit like this as good or bad writing. I look at it as just the direction The writer decided to go. This scene being unnecessary to show Bojack‘s character isn’t important to me because I think there’s countless things in different media that are similarly not necessary to get the point across, I don’t need to see Superman save a squirrel to know he’s good just like I don’t need to see (MHA final season spoiler) all for one be the cause of shigaraki’s family dying to know he’s an evil piece of shit. I think the decision being necessary or not is irrelevant and what matters is if the writers can handle adding whatever unnecessary thing to the story and do it responsibly. I have faith in the writing of the show, that they were capable of that so it never really bothered me, but I may be biased since I’ve seen the entirety of the show and might be misremembering my feelings on seeing the scene for the first time, but yeah, I just think it depends on if you have faith in the writing and that it won’t turn into just showing horrible things on screen for shock factor, and how that’s handled is what determines if it’s good or bad writing. (just voicing my opinion, not forcing my opinion on anyone by the way if anyone hates it that’s also fine)

It's hard to say definitely if something is good or bad writing decision without seeing how it plays throughout the whole story. It's hard to discuss further without spoiling but I'm excited to hear your perspective when this series is said & done. Bojack is one of those stories where it feels like your just watching life happen to messy and fucked up people.

I understand how you feel from where you are at in the show and it’s totally valid but I can see why they added this scene after finishing the whole show. I can’t wait for season 3 though

I love this show so much literally top 3 shows on Netflix, by the way they drop an F-bomb once a season. Season 1 Herb said “get the fuck outta my house” and season two Charlotte said “ I will fucking kill you” so keep an eye out for it if you can spot it next season and so on just little niche thing
