it was handled in a mature way jackie didn't wanna be with bro since he was longing for mewni and marco even though he wanted to be with jackie was not being truthful about what he really wants, if they broke up due to some nonsense drama that didnt fit their personalities then it would be ass, but the relationship being gone does not make it a bad episode its how they handle it and it was done maturely.

Question…has Marco longed for Mewni for the majority of the series? No? Then yes it was a bad episode. To completely toss away a relationship that he actually longed for for majority of the series so far, for a new longing that he JUST now found is bad. Really bad.

While I do like this show, I do wish that the writers would stay the same for episodes that require it, because the writers always changing can cause stuff like this to happen.

But I will say, my only real gripe with that episode is how jarring everything was like how they didn’t let Marco sit with the fact Jackie broke up with him or how he immediately went to mewni without any prior discussion like you said. That definitely could’ve been handled better

Most confusing part for me is that everything was planned. There’s no situation like Steven universe where it got rushed by the network at the end or where the owl house got cancelled, yet they still made similar mistakes with all the time and planning in the world

well you need to remember this 20 minute episodes that are then cut into 2 stories so they cant have that 50 min episode type of pacing, 2 this is a pg13 show and 3 it makes sense when you look at the bigger picture, Sure its been built up for and executed in second half of season 2 he finally gets the relationship he wants but he goes off to Mewni for half that relationship (like they just said in this episode), changes as a person and comes back still emotionally attached to Mewni. Jackie sees that and tells him that she sees being with her isnt where hes at right now even if he cant see it or admit it.
