Content

In today's episode, we begin by talking about Fatboy Slim and what happens to aging goths. We also discuss the official launch of The House of Tabula and how things have changed. Finally, we go on around a one-hour rant about the Mr Beastifaction of the internet and the disingenuous acts of fame-hungry gluttons.

Enjoy.

Ageism is alive and well then..... I struggle to judge people for what they wear, though it can happen... it's natural to have standards for yourself on what you would do and would not do..... but it's my choice to project my own standards, judgements and insecurities [and expectations whether celebrity or not] on others. I hope, one day, I have the courage to wear whatever the fuck I want if I choose to, despite the judgemental eyes, comments and pressures of 'younger' people or, more likely, your peers. I praise anyone who has the courage to do that at any age..... I might think someone looks like a gimp.... But equally I will help celebrate their wish to express themselves (some people just have a bit more style innately than others..... and so what). It's a choice to look deeper. At some point, you just don't give a shit anymore. Time brings perspective. This principle means a lot to me. ----------------------------------- Love your passion the 'Mr Beast' issue. I am so glad I have no idea who he is or knowledge of the world he comes from. But equally, the issues you talk about I am aware of, fearful of, and frustrated by. I haven't got the anger to spare trying to battle it in my head, it's something I would drive myself into the ground getting upset and angry about when I was younger..... but it is something I would like to challenge in my own productive way. Probably in my writing. I've already touched on it in some verses I have written. Authenticity is so essential to me.... and honouring it in others. Like you always say.... 'hold someone to a standard' - just because they're making money, in and of itself, it has to be challenged deeper - at what cost? To whom? Are Youtubers and tiktokers the yuppies of the day? Unlike Yuppies though, they aren't necessarily more unattainable or 'above' or 'other', whereas social media celebrity/profit is accessible to many. Where will the dissent come from? Any predictions? ----------------------------------- Loved Luiza's part on what you have/what you are - it's something close to my heart too - there is a trap there though..... knowledge can bring you development as a person, for example.... knowledge is something you might value..... but it's still finite, because our brains and bodies are finite. The risk is control..... losing that control... not just to our desire to be 'better' or 'develop' or to 'have'...... but to life..... autonomy, individuation, power....... there's a challenge for any person to be satisfied with peace.... with the static sound in between the noise and fear. That fear exists in us all, I think, it's part of the human condition. I think a sense of peace can also be nurtured too. ----------------------------------- The idea of a past view we hold dear..... was it a lack of choice for many? Work to feed, or die..... avoid injury or disease, survive another day...... don't travel or experience anything to aspire to, go on surviving...... mass democracy has only been around 100 years, let alone agency in daily life. The irony is that we're surrendering that choice to our phones and commercialism when there was a glimmer of it..... unless that, in itself, is also an illusion. The illusion of comfort, when our souls are screaming.
