A cavern deep under the ground is filled with air that is heated like an oven by a lake of magma. The are islands in or on the lake, and one of them holds a big, mysterious sphere.

As a DM or worldbuilder, you can drop this point of interest into the game when you want PCs to encounter something that isn't just another tunnel.
