Thanks, you’re right, you can get Dark tower minis at Bordlandia for under $70, and the dark souls pack for under $30 on Amazon…. For now 😉. I’ll have to check the price after this airs on YouTube to get a feel for the “Dungeon Craft “ effect.

Dear PDM: Thanks for this very interesting article about acquiring miniatures in unusual places. Amazon has several even cheaper, albeit crappier minis too. For example, there is a painted (terribly) set of 64 towns folk for USD 34.99, that is USD 0.55 a mini. Another growing area that is disrupting the miniatures market is additive manufacturing aka 3d printing. High resolution 3d printers are now within reach for hobbyists. For example, an Anycubic Photon Mono 2 4K 3d printer is available for USD 179.00 Just a couple of years ago this was a USD 499.00 unit. Several more barriers in addition to the printer is a lot more stuff is needed to print 3d minis; a curing station, cleaning supplies, maintenance supplies, physical space, resin and STL files, then there is that most non-fungible of resource of all, time. I would estimate a conservative entry point to print your first 3e resin printed miniature to be around USD 450.00. Still other barriers are the learning curve is still steep and ease of use an issue. However these issues are slowly being addressed by the industry. My research indicates the current average cost for a 3d printed 28mm mini is between USD 1.00 - 3.00 per unit. Also, a 3d printer can print both large and small minis, terrain, and lots of other useful bits and bobs for both miniatures and home use. Again, I think this is a very useful video for your viewers and will be a welcome change from the D&D click-bait. Thank you! MrGunn

Thank you Professor, always on the look out for cheap minis, no matter how many I have... don't judge me lol

That's a bummer that the reviews don't attract more viewers. I think they're a lot of fun, and I like learning about the alternative systems available. The European games, especially the more dark and creepy ones you've covered, have a lot of appeal to me.

Thanks for the tip on slay the dragon. I think my kids would really enjoy it. Also maybe do the reviews as part of patreon bonus content so it doesn't drag down the views of the channel Anyway, great content as always pdm

Steven Bogart

I agree with several others about how much I enjoy your reviews. I hope you'll continue to do them, either on YouTube or here.

Thanks for the video PDM. I also wanted to show my respect and admiration on your continued effort to share the hobby with your local youth group. We all talk and want to be a good neighbor or community member but you also work at it. You live on the other side of the country but I appreciate your efforts.

I tend to look at my local thrift stores (I have 3 nearby and 2 others in reasonable proximity), brick n mortar game stores and even Craigs List for deals on used or marked down games --- hoping for any that have some minis! I went all in on the Return to Dark Tower and Descent 3rd Ed.... Very Very Nice minis indeed! :-) but not exactly the cheapest --- Thanks for your great content! Always look forward to a new vid dropping! Happy Easter!!!

I've actually scored a couple copies of the Avalon Hill game Outdoor Survival (LOL) as well as (if memory serves) some type of sequel to that? involving the players playing as animals trying to migrate across the board? could me mis-remembering that one though.... Anyway - I like having the Outdoor Survival just for Nostalgia if nothing else! ;-)

Saltheart

Ok... Last Comment (on this one) --- Yellowstone (finally found it) is the other game similar to Outdoor Survival --- might even use similar mechanics where you try to move your herd across the map successfully. Anyway, sorry to hijack your comments! ;-)

Am I reading it wrong or does Hoard of Guandhal only offer 200 STL files for 3d printing your own miniatures? It seems like preprinted minis are a costly add on for different packs.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you put in to the channel and the hobby. I appreciate it!
