I'm curious if they'll discover that many of the most vocal individuals screaming about the various social hot buttons don't spend money on the game, they just point fingers and make demands, and once the corporation tries to appease them, the complainers come up with more items they find problematic. Regardless, have a great time at the convention, Professor.

DnDGO! Super easy advertisement too. That PokémonGo Gym on the street corner where you train and/or trap Pokémon creatures? Well Guess what? NOW you can slay a band of orcs or fight a *insert DnD baddie* at the same time. I'm surprised HASBRO hasn't done DnDGO! already.

Matthew Crismali

Here's something arbitrary and meaningless to have an opinion on: it should be D&D GO!, not DnDGO! or DnD GO! or DnDGo! or DnD Go!😉

I'm not 'awesome' at the VTT aspect compared to some but I for sure see it coming so I use it when/where it's needed. I would never say "Oh.. you're not doing this in person? Then I'm out." That is just cutting off your nose to spite your face. As the younger audience creeps in to the space you will see this panic about 'All Digital start to shrivel up quickly. If you don't/won't/can't embrace change you will simply be left behind in the trail of progress. That's fine, it's anyone's choice to make but shouting at people for having fun in your space in A different manner is just pointless.

It's not just about green. One thing these companies are obsessed with is growth. Magic really is tapped out when it comes to in-person play. The new properties are expensive and might bring in a few new players. D&D has more potential for growth, especially online. Probably more than Magic. Magic is partially about collecting the cards, where's the fun in collecting virtual cards?

Bagel-Man

Excited to watch this when I can professor!

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint. Ultimately, we will play the game want no matter what they do. Safe travels!!!

Bagel needs go faster. If you're not first, you're last...

Dear Professor, Glad you seem to be hale and operating at your usual high energy level. Thanks for sharing this news and your take on this. I am really wondering how Wizbros pulled off a profitable quarter, I was certain it would be a stinker, show me two more profitable quarters and it may be an actual trend. Yes, I am one of those guys; I think since DungenCraft was monetized, we have been seeing more click bait videos. I don't want them to go away, I just want less of them. At this point, I don't really care about D&D anymore, I don't buy Wizbros products and have no intention of doing so. Never had a D&D Beyond subscription, I don't play video games, rarely play games on my phone, and have never played a VTT; for goodness sake, I WFH and am on MS Teams all day, so doing a VTT 'for fun' is anathema. I want to sit around a table and I want to play games with real living breathing humans. So the less DungeonCraft is focused on Wizbros and gaming controversies and the more focused on crafting, advice, and indy game reviews the happier I will be. Have a great time at DaveCon. Best, MrGunn PS: I hope you make it to Mythic Con this year. I already bought my ticket and booked my hotel room. PSS: I feel there is a truly missed opportunity here for DB to say something pithy like; Glad to see Hasbro is pumping the bilge and righting the ship, Cynthia Williams walks the plank and Hasbro's stock price soars....

I hear this! I struggle with the tech, as I simply do not wish to commit the bandwidth to learn them. I do use discord, and as I run mostly “Theatre of the Mind” it works. I value younger folks and love to see what they do with DnD as a medium. I have. a younger friend who DM’s for a side job, I should sit in and see how he operates the. technology and how he keeps the energy and flow going online and through a VTT. I love playing older styles of play, but want to find ways to make it accessible to younger folks and I think both sharing the love of face to face and learning the tech as well.

Good observations and I feel like this seems to be the way things are heading. I get that’s what megacorps do, it’s just a pity that they lose sight of the hobby and charm part of the activity that gets people hooked in the first place. Maybe a “boutique” or “lab” part of the brand that keeps interest in DnD as something dynamic that the owners of the IP or “brand” are interested and INVESTED in. Show some love to the idea of DnD. Show some passion, not just corporate calculation.

I’ll wait for DeathbringerGo!

@Lee Dunning, I attempt to muster up as much disciplined restraint as possible to avoid giving my opinions regarding these loathsome cry bullies. However, you have stated my sentiments perfectly. I couldn't have said it better.

Corporations have no soul. Business is their religion and profit is their god.
