Eldritch (or House of Horror) Leak reveals all stats: Life (Health) Smiles (Sanity) Gun (Combat) Brain (Reading) Bones (Cash)

PROFESSOR – I understand and agree with everything in this video. However, Proficiency is a bit ambiguous to me. Please clarify if I’m understanding Proficiency correctly. Your rules state “Every character has a proficiency bonus determined by their character level.” Where do you get this bonus? Is it same as D&D 5E Proficiency, is it equal to the level of the character, or does simply having Proficiency just assist the DM in determining a relative Target Number? Looking for answer from PDM ONLY.

Great video. There is a spot where you misspeak about boons and banes and which one is a bonus and which is a penalty.

Wonderful rant! I love that you mention playing with kids and the necessity of keeping the math simple and the game in general rules light. My wife is dyslexic and was apprehensive about playing at first as she, like many, had the assumption that RPG's were a maze of rules (watching videos of 5E play did'nt help at all!) It's amazing how people who are new to the game or inexperienced love the rules light approach and don't look for granularity in the game!

I agree with just letting them find the clue. If they're asking the right questions, rewarding them with clues and cut scenes is satisfying for everyone.

Greatly appreciate the speedy reply. I know your likely overwhelmed with work and trying to deal with Patreon.

Love the ranting! More rants please. I love the skill less decision as well. Who needs them especially with a one pager.

Good stuff! I always appreciate your viewpoint. Yeah, regarding skills being a rabbit hole. Here's my real world example. I am a veteran and recipient of a lot of supposed "hard core" training during my service. Survival only really has one aspect to learn: Always be positive. That 90% of it right there. Most of the other things to learn in support of that are smaller specific skills that can be attempted even if you don't know them (like your lock-picking example). So yeah, it can get complicated quick. As for eating bugs? No training required, if you're hungry enough, you will not hesitate (of course they F with you to get you to eat them LOL). Anyway, love that your tying complex skills to professions!

Index Card RPG: hard (+3 to the DC) and easy (-3 to the DC). Simple.

I’ll be very impressed if boons and banes came up in conversation and you were talking about something other than Shadow of the Demon Lord.

Now this is how you play an RPG! It allows you to sink into the story, not the math. It isn't math class for God's sake, it's a fun exploration of imagination, creativity and life!
