I'm taping an episode on charisma this week. How does charisma work at your table? I have have observed there are two schools of thought on this subject:

A) Roll first, then describe the results--the same way you roll for everything else. When you attack you toss the die, THEN the DM narrates the action. The advantage of this method is it is consistent and takes into account that a non-charismatic player can play a very charismatic character.

B) Ask the player what their character SAYS, assign a difficulty, THEN add the charisma bonus.  The advantage of this method is it encourages the player to role-play. The advantage of this method is it does not allow PCs to "skip" the RP by just rolling dice.

The results will inform an episode I'm taping this week. Thanks!
