I adore these, they remind me of my own table. 4-5 goofy adult telling weird stories and yelling at small, colorful pieces of plastic with numbers on them.

When I ran one of the riot scenes, one of my players was caught it the thick of the crowd. She was trying to bail. So, I had her doing dex checks to wind her way through. If she failed, saving throw. If the saving throw failed, someone would randomly attack her. Then she could either engage with them or Int check to get oriented and start working her way out again. (She got away without taking damage.) Love the rat pit idea. Stealing that..
