The leaky results after high rates of vaccination from Ireland and Israel are showing us that this virus may simply become a permanent fixture of human life, like influenza. We are probably going to have to accept the value of living normal lives again as we establish how to treat the illness. Life will go on and we will still play games together. Don't be afraid to spend time with your loved ones. Time is limited. We'll be okay, but it is a memento mori for the modern world.

Knowing you lost family, especially your dad, and just lately losing his car, has made this year very tough for you and your family: lots of loss and reminders of such. I hope the “communion” you partake in gives you joy in the midst of all this; and of course I totally agree and understand your COVID stance - in the same situation. Since your video on Bond, I’ve been reading the 60’s & 70’s Spy systems as well as watching many movies from the time. The biggest shock, as a child of the 70’s with a father who worked for Air Canada, was the demise of Pan Am, featured in 2001 A Space Odyssey. And yet now the iconic terminal has been restored and very successful as a luxury hotel. What’s lost seems to be coming back (like elevator music featuring KISS and The Cure) so I wonder if the success of Roll20 will bring back many elements seen in D&D 4e? And what do you believe will be the next “technology” to change the ttrpg field? What is at it’s height and will fall, and fall hard?

I'm in Ireland and I understand where you're coming from. Infection rates are still high despite the high vaccination uptake, but deaths and ICU hospitalisations are dropping. This might be the best we can hope for.
