Can't wait to see what the None DnD edition of DB has to offer

Brent Norton

Thank you for all the hard work you put into this channel.

I’m a big fan of Deathbringer! Would love to see more.

Faithful Executioner! Still hoping that video gets made :)

Is the non-D&D edition of Deathbringer the extended edition? Or something else entirely?

Jay

PDM, looking forward to your new ways to roll damage. Hopefully something innovative such as strikes and wounds which keep the game moving and less accounting for players and GM’s. Video Suggestion – Cannon Fodder Minions or Potentially Deadly Enemies. Should a fantasy game have Cannon Fodder Cronies as proof of heroic concept or Adversaries on a more equal playing field? Can a commoner with a pitchfork or axe be a deadly adversary? Does this depend on genre? How does this instill a sense of verisimilitude and immersion? How does fear, peril, and caution on the PC’s part come into play on both sides of this issue? A Game of Thrones style game where even main characters are at risk of being killed easily or Lord of the Rings where Legolas’s death count is the only worry? What do you think?

Andrew

I'm definitely intrigued with new ways of rolling damage. I'm loving all the Reviled Society videos and so is my GF---we're both really impressed with your painting skills.

Andrew

Interesting topics---I think there's a lot of room for discussion here and it's a question of the flavor of the game you're running. I know in my world that a commoner with a pitch fork isn't going to be a deadly opponent and one with a wood axe will be more dangerous by degrees. Pitch forks are wooden tools in my world--it's just not something people would use metal for. A wood axe, with a low carbon steel head, would be properly balanced for chopping wood and only slightly more nimble than say a maul or a sledge hammer. It probably wouldn't cut too well either, so the damage done by one against an armored opponent, say in riveted mail, would mostly be blunt force trauma. Military axe blades are much thinner, and relatively nimble in battle. Matt Easton on scholagladiatoria has a lot of great videos on axes in their military context. This is just how I'd answer that for my own gaming table--it's well worth exploring.

Yeah, I really wasn't going for a discussion. That would follow the video if PDM chose to make it. This wasn't really meant as an open question for everyone and was directed solely to PDM. Furthermore, everyone is going to have a different opinion in one way or another on this subject as I've never seen two GM's run the game the exact same way. Additionally, some games do not have mooks to be killed by the dozen but actually deadly enemies that might be slightly above or below the ability of the PC. That being stated, any discussions of the subject would best be left until this video is made as I believe PDM might cover this subject a bit better than I might. Again, this is really just suggestion for PDM's analysis of the topic as a Professor, subject matter expert in literature, and professional YouTuber for Tabletop games. The concept is only regarding enemies being treated as cannon fodder, mooks, and blade bate aside from the Big Bad. I feel PDM's perspective on the subject might be interesting as opinions will inevitably vary. Never-the-less, I see where you are coming from on this subject. However, I don't really consider all the nuanced details of historical weaponry, what they are made of, speed factors, or whatever. My group wants quick easy rules and fun narrative rather than simulations that slow everything down but you do what works for you and yours. We like EZD6 and it doesn't matter if the weapon is wood, iron, or adamantium. If the weapon hits it does one strike unless it crits. Easy and Fun for everyone. Anyway, sorry if this response might have sounded a bit cranky. It's late here and been a rough week and gotta get some rest. Have a good one Andrew.

Hey Professor, I’m working on a new campaign as a prelude to your Reviled Society (which is terrific by the way). It’s a Jack the Ripper type mystery. I’ve got it 90% sorted, but looking for some juicy twists. I’d really appreciate any thoughts.

You need two red herrings and the real killer—who might be two killers. Happy Thanksgiving!
