Excited to watch PDM!

Joel A.

Oooh! Know what I'll be watching today after sales 🤓

Chuck Thorin

Thanks, PDM. You got my full attention on the new Deathbringer. And Tenkar is a great guy but I feel old now. I've been following him since before he retired....

Lyle Stirk

Love everything you do PDM!

I'm glad to hear you say popularity be damned. The "wider audience" is a myth sold to investors. My son and I hope to meet you next year at a con that doesn't require masks or a vax card.

I stepped away from Twitter a little over a week ago. I just can't support where it's heading these days. It had already shifted considerably after they went to an algorithmic timeline so its not much of a business loss to move away. I'm on Mastadon now, sort of. I have a bot that promotes my work there and I drop in once a day or so to see whats going on. It reminds me a lot of Twitter in the old days and that makes me happy. Dice.camp seems to be where many of the RPG folks are but I already have an account at chirp.enworld.org: https://chirp.enworld.org/web/@slyflourish I don't think I'm going to miss anything important moving away from Twitter. My friends who are still there will let me know what I miss.

Great Front Porch Lecture. Can't wait to see the new direction of Deathbringer. I really like the idea of Hit's rather than Hit Points. It works for my group with EZD6 but regardless of what you do I'm sure it will be something worth a go. Thanks again for all you do.

PDM, I think it’s great you are brainstorming with DMScotty, Hankerin, and other content developers. I also think it allows the sharing of great ideas. I have been using your FunBringer for the kiddo and DeathBringer for about 18 months with my friends; and it’s a hit. They love the UDT gameplay and grim dark rules. Looking forward to the DeathBringer 5E and the OSE type DeathBringer. Do you thing you will go the way of ICRPG and DM Scotty’s DM D6 and print books? I surely hope so, I know your content design and thought process is on their level. I would love to see your printed book on my DMs shelf next to theirs. If you need any beta testers please let me know; I would like to help if you need it. Wishing you success in the new year!

Jon Rennick

Also looking forward to seeing what you do with Deathbringer. I like the idea of hits instead of HP, it was a very cool idea in EZ D6. Would love to see the Deathbringer version!

Joel A.

Solid from analysis to informed speculation. Will need to watch Tenkar's channel a bit more closely. Deathbringer 5e? All-new Deathbringer?!? W00h00! Hoping we patrons can be involved in the playtesting.

Twitter is, as you mention, a different age demo. It's late Millennial/Gen Z in its most active voices in the tabletop gaming audience. A lot of the younger crowd that came in during 5e, whether pre or post pandemic. Regarding Deathbringer and its design as a stand alone game, if you're looking for ultra-streamlined systems take a look at Into the Odd, Cairn, and a few of the hacks of those games. A lot of inspiration there.

Daniel Defazio

Lol. It's coming. I will attend Mythic Con in November of next year in NC. Thinking about Historicon in Lancaster.

Daniel Defazio

I play tested this the other night and will do so again at PAX Unplugged this Friday. It could go either way.

Daniel Defazio

Yes. Deathbringer will one day see physical publication. The rules will only be a sliver of the book. The world and the NPCs will be what distinguishes it. It will look like Hubris, if you have that. It's taking a long time because I have two other jobs.

to me twitter is a way to discover new creators. when you say you would like someones tweet, that seemingly insignificant engagement will actually "contaminate" them with your followers. people who like your stuff will probably like stuff you like. it's one of free platforms major functions to me as a mere consumer.

Jay

Absolutely. In my humble opinion, the objectives in creating any game should depend upon who you are selling or making it for. For those new to the hobby, something accessible and easy to understand with no obscure game speak jargon. Preferably using fast moving mechanics that get out of the way and keep the immersion and excitement going. If the game is made just for your own group then it depends on what they like and keeps them coming back for more. Just my two cents. Hope the PAX Unplugged event goes well.

Great Front Porch update, if you go to MythicCon, I will go too, already cleared it with the wife. I never understood the appeal of Twitter, why sign up for a service that punishes those of us with faulty Aasimov control circuits. Speaking ones internal monologue in public is bad, doing so on the internet is a recipe for disaster. Plus Elon is a tool. Looking forward to the next generation of DB and seeing where that goes next. FYI, there is now vinyl rollup UDT on Etsy. What would I like to see from DungeonCraft? Hmmm as a DM more: How to build adventure series, perhaps highlighting a different story arc type for each episode like in XDM2 would be nice. A How to be a good PC series might be interesting, how ham it up, table etiquette, etc. Some good old universal scatter terrain crafting videos but with a stage set for UDT vibe. Finally. I love watching your live plays.

Adrian Webster

I love these little chats. the porch is a good spot but if you enjoy doing them I am sure many patrons would be fine with the shed.

MrGunn

I agree the shed is fine and quieter, fewer cars, helicopters, and lawn mowers. Hmmm he could do a whole Inside the Teacher's Lounge Talk Show. During winter he could do the the show from the shed, but he needs to get a Chesterfield club chair, a side table and have a TV with a fire going on in the back ground, but maybe that is Baron's thing. :D

My GripMats UDT arrived today. It is the basic Dungeon UDT similar to PDMs. From purchase to delivery it took 4 business days, shipping box arrived in great condition. The texture is great, I got the 'grippy' version, less likely to slide on the table top. The size is an awesome 24" (61cm) diameter, 1/8" (3mm) thick, with 1" (25mm) grid squares on each side. It has the three standard UDT zones in different colours for each zone, light, medium dark. It is double sided; side 1 is just the three zones with grid; side 2 is three zones with a grid, but has an additional overlay subdividing the zones into 4 pie slices. Will we patrons have a chance to try out the new non-DnD based ruleset?
