What are you favorite published modules and campaigns?

Rob Edgar

Why does Skykos love chickens?

Jon Rennick

How do you get your players to rollplay more? My players seem to default to “video game mode” with very little talking in character, if at all.

Jon Rennick

I’ve been running Deathbringer with Basic Fantasy filling the details. In three sessions I’ve had three character deaths. Sometimes from things I fully expect them to run from or negotiate with. I’m getting a lot of it was my fault (the DM) for putting them up against such strong characters. How do you transition players from feeling invulnerable in 5e, to being cautious again in old school games?

Joel A.

Do you see a difference in how female players game vs their male counterparts?

Chuck Thorin

1. How is it that find the time do the things you do? 2. Ever consider updating some old episodes like Episode 70: The Rules I Use? 3. You've talked about your character, adventure and so on. What do you consider the worst miniature paint job or crafting type project that you've done?

Pyram King

Do you believe RPGs without levels provide a better opportunity for open-world / Sandbox adventures? I ask this because it seems that D&D and level-based adventures are by default rail-road to level-based areas. For example, a level 1 character can go to a level 8 area, but they would certainly die.

Did you watch animated TV shows or movies as a child, and did or do your games take inspiration from them?

Ron F.

For Maria: What are some of your favorite things about the RPG hobby?

Masterhit

1) Light sources - do your characters use/manage torches etc.? I find this can add a lot of tension but also overhead some groups dislike (like encumbrance). 2) Do you use fumble rules or punish fumbles? Do your adversaries crit/fumble? 3) Does anyone have any favorite podcasts or YouTube channels? Any favorite actual plays? (Bandit’s Keep, Runehammer, CritShow etc.)

PDM: What are your, Maria, and Tom's gaming grievances for the year? When will we see another edition of Deathbringer Deluxe? What is your reaction from both a hobbyist and business perspective to Cynthia Williams' statements about monetizing 1D&D, Ben at Flexing Beast posted his thoughts, what are yours?

Jared Davis

DM: "Are you sure you want to stand your ground and fight?!" [Repeats 2x] Telling the players that I do not balance encounters and that character death is always possible have helped my players. 5e and Pathfinder create overpowered low-level characters, so players tend to think their characters are invincible. A firm, gentle reminder that plot armor does not shield them resets this expectation. I hope this helps.

Hi PDM, here are my questions: 1. For magic in D&D, do you prefer spell slots, roll-to-cast, spell points, or some other mechanic? 2. How rules-lite is too rules-lite? How much crunch do you like in your RPG cereal? 3. What have been your "best" ideas that you have since chosen to modify or view as mistakes? Thank you.

Mariah Holt

To the wise and insightful PDM #1 In the quest for sales WOTC has continually created evermore power creeping materials mostly in the benefit the players. This has created a multitude of issues for DM’s. Do you think if OneD&D does not rectify this issue in giving DM’s additional materials/resources to counter these issues, this will ultimately drive groups to migrate into other alternative systems? (Which is not a bad thing!) #2 What do you think or have heard from others closer to WOTC pertaining to and reasons for the lower quality content that they have released over the past year? #3 Do you have any ambitions or efforts for a cross-streamer show with other content creators such as: Sly Flourish, the DM Lair, Taking20, Dungeon Masterpiece or Nerdarchy ?

Graham Kane

Hi PDM, Tom and Maria! Some lighthearted questions for the Holiday Season.... What are your favorite: 1) Christmas Movie 2) Comic book character 3) Star Wars character

Ben Chance

Any tips for easing players used to the new “superheroes” style of RPG in old school style games? Starting a few short campaigns next year to minimize the impact of long stretches of absences on the main game by sprinkling in other systems in short games. Hoping they don’t get turned off from that style when their first TPKs occur.

Do you see a place for Critical Role-type shows using an OSR system?

2. Can Deathbringer drive me to the store

jnlsn family

3. If you owned D&D, where would you take it next?

Euphemism

What is your opinion on developing a travel system that incorporates a combination of resource management, exploration, and resource gathering(there's always one player who wants to be an alchemist looking for plants). Could it find mass appeal if the rules are simple and to the point while still having enough random elements to keep it fresh, or is travel almost always better when it's 1 or 2 dice rolls and then you get where you're going?

William Smith

Edit: you pretty much answered it. You mentioned, maybe in the last front porch lecture, you were considering taking Deathbringer in a different direction. Can you speak more about that?

Bagel-Man

Was anyone able to watch this? Or know where I can watch this?

jnlsn family

It took me a while. I had to go directly to CrowdCast and create an account. Then I had to figure out how to get out of the CrowdCast dashboard so I could use the in-app search function. Once you get there, just search Dungeon Craft and you will be able to join.
