Thank you for tour understanding. As a Monkees fan for my whole life, I was fortunate to see Mike and Micky in concert September 2021 for their final farewell tour. This was an amazing experience and I am blessed to have been there despite these current tumultuous times. While Mike Nesmiths song, Different Drum, was turned down by Monkees producers, it was picked up by the lovely and iconic Linda Ronstadt with the Stone Poneys. Lyrically, while intended to be sang by a man, the 1960s indicated that a woman deciding to stay single and not settle down were quite empowering, and showed the changes in our society that would become our future. No longer would women feel obligated to get their MRS and settle down. This also would allow men the freedom to decide their own destiny, choosing to put off marriage and children until they determined if and when it was how they wanted to live their lives. No longer would Americans be bogged down by the societal expectations of having a nuclear family. We would now create our futures based upon our own passions and desires."Different Drum has always been amazing to me in that it used a lot of the fun music arrangements of the 60's. We wanted to add a little modern flare with a DAEAEE tuning open strings guitar arrangement. Hope you enjoy."-Alfred Trujillo "I believe the best way to mourn the loss of a musician is to play their music. When we do so we keep the beauty of their spirit alive in our hearts." -Ben Gibbard
