The thing with Hyun Gyu is, first of all he is not your average joe. That mf has borderline genius IQ and yes he definitely likes playing mental games. Was a participant of Devils Plan season 2 and as you saw his intro a double major from SNU. His interaction with Jiyeon is not peculiar at all from my perspective. He knew the moment Jiyeon asked him to hang out the next day, what her intention was. Then afterwards her very non discreet way of making Hyun gyu feel guilty as if he was in the wrong by not choosing her way was a manipulative tactic of gaining sympathy and hence a moral high ground and would have worked to her satisfaction if it were any other average joe. But Hyun gyu saw through that and actually tried talking through it with Jiyeon about the miscommunication but Jiyeon didnt open up just sat there visibly upset. But after that, Hyun gyu had enough of the petty games and took her to his room so as to make her understand that the only mistake that was made was by her expecting Hyun gyu to pick her and not the other way round as from her actions uptill that point towards Hyun gyu was nowhere suggestive that she wanted to romantically know him from hyun gyu's perspective. Basically he just shut down the possibilities and indirectly showing that he was not to be played around with.
