So glad you reacted to this one! This is from his Beyond Live Japan concert that he had on the 25th of July. Completely rocked (pun not intended) the fandom with this cover because a lot of us love when he does rock, and he knows it. As far as I know, he knows conversational Japanese, but not really fluent. Also just tried the link and it was copyright struck, so not up anymore :(

I was suppose to write you right away when you published this but my internet went down and then I got busy and the month went by. Uff. Anyway, thank you so much for this reaction! I think I have a similar relationship with ONE OK ROCK than you, I kind of want to like them, but I don't really like Taka's voice? I feel a bit bad about that cus he's a good singer, but just not for me I guess. Yesung's voice is one of my favorite things ever so him doing a cover of this song was perfect for me. As ElloryQueen said before, Yesung rocks the rock concept. The fandom would go completely bonkers if he came out with a rock album, or if him and Heechul finally worked on a song together. It is hard on his vocals though, that's why his concerts mix songs like this with his ballads and more pop songs.

His Japanese is pretty good when singing. Not so much when he speaks it, but that's mostly a lack of use, I think. A few years ago he worked on a Japanese movie and he has released a Japanese album and several singles as a solo artist and with KRY (and as Suju as well) and has done several concert tours in Japan. The "Beyond live" was a concert for his Japanese fans (any international fan could also "attend"). He has shown interest in Jrock before and he said he was working on a collab with a Japanese artist, so hopefully we get something else like this cover soon enough. He IS a bit like an anime character, which is also a common characteristic of Jrock artists, now that I think about it...

That's why Lost Heart was so great. It was lowkey a rocky song, so that was a sneak peak of what that'd sound like - a Yesung rock album. Oof

This randomly reminded me of Kang Daniel featuring on MIYAVI's newest J-rock album lol, that was so random. I think that could be cool if Yesung did smth like that too
