Where have I been? Well, sometimes you need to unplug from everything to find yourself again. Ever need to reboot your computer to get it working again? Something like that. I needed to do some spring cleaning of my creativity and that meant stopping what I was doing is just exploring art again. Relaxing, walking, playing games, sketching... That's what these sketches are. Yes, the intention was still to make something for my Akumi TD game but I wanted to feel out what felt fun and right.

I'll slowly rev up art production again but at a pace I feel comfortable with. Don't want to burnout the gears again. You can probably expect some extreme art jump-arounds as I explore some more. Even I'm not sure what direction this will go. But that's what makes it exciting for me. I don't want to know, I want to be surprised.Onwards and Upwards!

These look great and the chibi type style definitely is catchy and attractive. I also adore the shape language you're using, the feet especially. There is a certain life and energy to these and I can see the unplug definitely helped you out.

Also, that sketch of the man with the bandana and rifle blasting away makes me wonder if you could pull off a Metal Slug style game in Akumi's world

As usual, the sketches and general artwork is great! I still believe that, in my opinion, this female figure that you’ve made is definitely the most eye-catching and appealing. Hoping to see more of the butcher knife bunny girl in the future! (A relative of Soybean maybe?)

I like the character in the 8th picture down from your "Onwards and Upwards" signoff. She kinda feels like the supposed "unholy union" of a Zerg and a Protoss on StarCraft. She's kinda cool and now I kinda want to make an OC based on such a potential species. 😋

Thanks! I always enjoy making the xenomorph "alien" type monster females.

Thanks! Yes, these female proportions are for sure what I'm using for my Akumi tower defense game. We'll get bunny girl into the game as well.

Oh yeah I didn't even think of that. The bandana dude totally has a Metal Slug look. Shape language is a great term. I need to find more shape languages that are enjoyable to draw. Glad you like, I think I found an appealing way to draw the feet and high heels reminiscent of my original Akumi designs. Feels natural to draw, even in big bulky boots.

Greg

Absolutely. They way you've done the feet in those poses accentuates both femininity and danger. As for shape language, here is a great video covering the suit design in the much beloved Metroid Dread: https://youtu.be/_HFHR7nOzVc I think you'll love it

Oh sounds like my kind of video. Going to watch now!

Greg

Hope you enjoy! It's one I refer back to from time to time in my own art journey

Good to see you back. Glad your creativity is still in tact. I've been doing more fanfiction writing by the way. Can't wait to see more of your work Mr. Pool.
