So lately, the past few days, I’ve been searching for creative fuel. Talking with Dave last Friday, I realized it’d been years since I activrly looked for art of any kind that got me fired up. I started with what I had in my storage, comics and books I bought over a decade ago: Capcom Design Works, Squee, Creech, Battle Chasers. Post-it’s still mark pages I used for inspiration in Akumi.

I feel like I sometimes get myself in an endless loop where I’m making stuff but it’s not leading to anything. I want to MASTER my craft of animation again. I won‘t be playing video games for a while. I can’t balance it with being productive, although I wish I could! I tried and failed. Right before focusing on the original Akumi I’d quit World of Warcraf. Maybe there’s a theme here.

Animation Focused

I’ll start with small animation bits to really hone my skills again. I’ve relied on my natural ability but haven’t purposely tried to become better until now. I want to build quality animations that knock people’s socks off! That was the agenda behind the original Akumi animations. I’ll continue with the other things we’ve been doing (NSFW content and merch) but my main focus will be creating great animations again. Look for the results of that soon.

Onwards and Upward!

Greg

Sounds good miltonius! If you ever get the streaming bug I'm sure many of us would enjoy you streaming as you animate even if you forget we are there haha you now we are here for you're animations and we are with you for the journey 100%

Reno

Complacency can definitely be an inspirational killer, especially here in the Marine Corps. I've felt complacent and not so much motivated to pursue higher things lately and I know it sucks! Many restrictions here in the Corps, kissing up to higher, not much free time, constant deployments and the likes. It kills. Milton I am definitely here to support you and your work! Many of us can speak the same as well! Your work, animation and arts are a blast and I absolutely love what you've produced so far! I hope you'll find that inspirational spark that'll light up future projects and many creative ideas you'll have in the future, be it small animation bits or not!

Thank you Greg! Once I start flowing again I see no reason not to stream as I work on animations. I appreciate the support and want to produce the best content I’m capable of. It’s time for me to evolve my skills!

That means a lot Reno. I can’t imagine the challenges you have to go through everyday so your words are very much appreciated. Complacency is absolutely a killer of creativity, inspiration and drive. I’m guilty of it. I know I’m here to create these animations and worlds for you, me and everyone to enjoy. I’m not fulfilled unless I’m creating. I can promise you I’ll be hitting this two rocks together till a fire burns again. Let’s see what can happen when turn my focus from a flood light back to a laser beam. Yep I’m a visual kind of guy haha! Thank you for coming along with me on this journey!

hey I will admit I did kickstart battle chasers! It not a bad little RPG. Light on the story and heavy into the combat! It pretty good!

Same here, I supported Battle Chasers Kickstarter. It was fun and very polished. I think I finished it after a couple days of playing. Overall, a quality game.

I really love the series you created about those 3 witches that were fucked on a cave by those ghosts, I really love that stuff, and also I love Pokemon, that is my inspiration, you have very good choices in the picture, If was me I would start on X-Men. Thanks for your work

Randal Eaglebauer

That Capcom artbook rules. If I were to recommend checking out a certain artists' work, I'd say look at Masaaki Yuasa's stuff. He does some great stuff with animation and has a few art books.

Doctor Mars

A Jhonen Vasquez fan! I was never really into comics, but he was a definite exception.

Normally I wouldn’t have been interested in his work but a friend had a copy of Squee at the animation studio I worked at. After reading through it, I became a fan. It was almost the anti-typical comicbook at the time. Very sarcastic and self deprecating but in a hilarious way. It didn’t take anything seriously. Beautiful and energetic art style too. It made total sense they turned his story Invader Zim into an animation later. 👽

Sparky Reynolds

as a young child i loved to look through my mothers 3 Frank Frazetta art books....the way he drew al ot of the visuals with the negative space and unconnected lines were very inspirational to me...

miltoniusarts

Frazetta was one of my first art inspirations. I remember seeing a poster of the iconic Death Dealer on his horse as a kid walking through the mall. I’d never seen anything so amazing. I was hypnotized by it’s beauty. That’s a certain kind of powerful. All I knew was I wanted to see more of that. I want to create that feeling through my animations.
