Edit: I scheduled this to post yesterday but messed up the dates... so here it is! It's now a throwback Friday post.

This is another older character of mine, Trena. She was supposed to be a beast girl with crazy agility although nothing says that about her here. Will bring her back to present day too. Some of you may remember this animation on my very first flash website in probably 2003.  I found it and made some slight edits but the thing I enjoyed the most about this was the amount of time I put into making her feel alive. It wasn't an effort to do.  I didn't "try" hard at it. I just enjoyed making the character. At some point I stopped doing that... but now I'm back at it again.

Lets make characters and animations come ALIVE!

That is the magic isn't it--seeing your work from nothing but idea, slowly building up into sketch and details, and making finer lines and building it to life. You as a creator must be really proud right, its like seeing your baby growing up step by step. I would be proud if it was me.

It's interesting comparing your old work and newer stuff side by side. I kinda like how she has a little pudginess/thiccness here and the way you animate her as very bouncy/bubbly and expressive.

Yesh! It’s the building and layering of work until you get a final result. But the creating, the discovery of something new is that joy in the process. I’m remembering what the saying “the joy is in the journey” means to me again. The creative process is it. The final result is bonus. Then it’s on to the next adventure of creating! 🙂

Thank you! The bubbly/bouncy and expressive qualities are what I want to bring with me into my new art. That’s where I’m traveling, you can see my art is starting to get a lot more loose and wild. This is how I’ll bring life to my drawings.

I totally understand what you mean. As an author myself, "the joy is in the journey" is so accurate and true. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your ideas everyday! Best of luck!

So do I go to the usual link to watch this gif or what

miltoniusarts

Hey Alfred, is the gif not playing for you? I haven’t uploaded it to the private links yet but I will.

Darterrius

Oh it's supposed to be playing right now then no sir

miltoniusarts

Yep it should be animating for you. Some browsers disable animations. What browser are you viewing it in? I use Firefox on my PC and Safari on my iPhone. I’m not positive but I think Google Chrome you’ll have to go into options to enable animated gifs.

miltoniusarts

Yeah I’ve had the Patreon app not play gif animations. I only use the app to play the Lens feature now. Go into your phone web browser and see if that works.

SaltySpook

Very expressive, I like it
