This week has been a milestone! After honing my skills and drawing in my sketchbook since Dec 2015, I've finally began actual animating again. The clean up of Akumi in the video above shows you what I did this week. It's not final animation, it still needs polish and a run through After Effect but I'm proud of what I accomplished so far. It's like old times when I did most of the work in Flash while using After Effect to put the cherry on top. Quality animations must be the focus, not special filters...

The great thing about this progress is that the more I do, the quicker and easier it becomes to complete new animations because I have more and more art assets built out and ready to go! You can also see the progress of my "Playground Fight" animation. This piece has been 90% done a long time but I had lost passion for it. But with this new focus on quality animation, I want to bring it to completion too. I may do more with these characters too.

Oh man there's so much work to be done but as promised, at least one update a week will be posted here to show you my progress! I'll also have previews of NSFW content for my Patrons soon! Stay tuned!

Very cool to see all this work done Milt. It's looking very nice and the new style is quite cool. Have you heard that Toonz is open source and free IIRC?

Thank you! Interesting. Just looked Toonz up. Looks like it's very much geared towards traditional paper animation, which looks great but very time consuming. It's why I love flash so much, I can draw and animate everything in Flash with good quality very quickly. The library and symbol system in Flash makes animating so much easier!

Love your process milton. your fight scenes are always amazing, and that spinning sword wow. i think you changed her hair also :) and i'm liking her attitude a lot . she's still a sexy thing :D .. you are inspiring me to learn to draw, i never drawn before so i have been messing around with adobe illustrator today looking at your work for inspiration and idea's.... btw what program do you use to animate your drawing's and is it hard to learn for someone that has never drawn before ? ..... anyway this is the first time i drawn anything, i dedicate it to you ...XD it's very basic i know. i don't understand about shading yet. or how to connect lines together properly . (nsfw) http://postimg.org/image/c33ae51df/ (nsfw) ..would you recommend to learn to draw with pencil and paper or Photoshop first ...i'm not sure what i should be learning as i have just started . :) . adding color looks difficult.

Thank you! I use Flash CS3 to make my animations and characters. But I use my pencil drawings as reference when I draw in flash. I like the drawing you have there. I would recommend drawing on paper first. You'll build a more natural flow drawing on paper and then you can transfer those skills to programs like Photoshop. But like anything, you need to learn the fundamentals of art like human anatomy, life drawing for example if you want to start creating characters. Once you know the basics you can move on to creating your own styles and looks. Color and shading is best learned after honing your drawing skills.
