With the maddening and hypocritical views in this episode, I do appreciate that you then focused more on the story etc afterwards. I wanted to yell at them too. This 2-parter was really good though! I enjoyed seeing your reactions, especially to the heavier stuff. I'm such a fan of the way you set things up to ensure you watch parts 1 and 2 in the same week. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I always found these specific flashbacks with young Gibbs... pointless? Not bad, just they didn't show us anything new about him or give insight in some way like flashbacks are supposed to. It was a bit odd, though I understand the connection to the story. I just felt the flashbacks achieved nothing in terms of Gibbs' character? Unlike that dream with Shannon at the beginning.

100% agreed. I feel bad for the adults too, but yeah... kids and animals are on a whole other level. It's their pure innocence, and often an inability to defend or speak up for themselves. For those same reasons, it takes a particular kind of evil to hurt them.

They made the right call not killing the teacher right then and there. Because of the ROE (Rules of Engagement). Its called de-escalation. Gibbs gave her options. In the military, if you just indiscriminately kill insurgents or anyone without a reason, you will end up in prison or worse. Military operates by a set of rules that one cannot break. One of them is killing women. The men they killed before they breached the building, obviously they can because they fired first. If the woman released the marine and pointed her gun, then that is justified in Gibbs or anyone killing her. But she didnt.
