Frustrating elements to both episodes this week, but I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions. NCIS is great at putting pieces together to tell a bigger story. EJ and Ray were introduced at different points, and entangled in the story + characters in different ways... then in two episodes, back to back, they're done. And all the closure that comes with it. Yeah, I personally found EJ and Ray very unlikeable also, to the point that I literally forgot EJ even existed until the show introduced her to you. Your reasons for not liking EJ made me realise that's probably why I didn't either; I couldn't put it into words, but never cared about her. Ray was just bad news. I think the term was "punchable face" lol. Glad Ziva took care of that. Super appreciate and agree with what you talked about when Ray proposed. And in public, which was bad enough in itself. So manipulative of him. Romantic gestures to get out of a fight is a huge red flag. Ray gave off so many of them in just that scene, on top of everything he's already done. I always got the vibe he was all "a man is supposed to get married" rather than actually loving Ziva and wanting to be with her. Just trying to tick off a box or she was a means to an end. Though I don't think Tony was serious in that speech he gave Ziva. He knows her better than anyone; simply saying he thinks marrying Ray is a bad idea wouldn't do anything. And it's not fair, as that's her decision to make. But the way he handled it still had an effect, and I think that's the point. Sometimes, it's more effective to be supportive and let them know you care. Like if you're considering something but your instincts say it's a bad idea, someone telling you "if it feels right, I'm happy for you" might also make you think "okay but it doesn't feel right?" Does that make sense? That's how I saw it anyway, with Tony's approach there. For the end scene, even when I first watched, I don't necessarily think Ziva saying she's done with that stuff is something to lose hope over or it's being put on the backburner. However that saying goes... where you can have a bunch of bad relationships or dates, give up and stop looking, then bump into the right person. Her saying that doesn't really mean anything because, fictional or not, you never know what life has in store next. They wrapped up a lot of stuff just these past few episodes when the finale is still a ways off; it'd be weird timing, if not for the next one being the 200th episode of NCIS. Looking forward to your reaction to that. It's not just their 200th, but also you hitting 200 episodes of NCIS... so far, lol. The timing is so ironic, as we recently had the 500th episode in real time airing hehe. Still, 200 episodes is a lot and I'm excited that we still have so much more of this story to go!
