I didn't think your commentary on this episode would be so detailed as it was. Reason being, this particular episode is fairly light on plot but very heavy on atmosphere and emotions. There's that stark contrast, IMO, when compared to the season one finale. Be as it may, "Little Green Men" is a fan favorite. Mulder is slowly regaining his confidence and motivation, the two are separated, and he's working on the most boring stuff you could imagine. We also see his very vivid and detailed recollection of Samantha's abduction. Yes, he physically left with nothing in terms of evidence at the end of the episode, but psychologically and emotionally he acquired fuel to move forward. Very interesting analysis regarding Smoking Man, his level of access, et cetera. And a small thing to add... Mulder actually used the name "George Hale" on the passenger manifest, not "Betty Grant", but it's easy to get confused because it's hard to see where Scully's finger is on the document. George Hale was used because of their discussion earlier in the episode where Mulder talks about Hale and the telescope. :D
