Don't share this link just yet! I'm posting it officially... some time tomorrow?? Already shared an earlier version with the tier 25 folks ages ago, so sharing it with everyone here now! Please DO feel free to check the subtitles for mistakes!! But yes.  2 episodes in as many weeks!! I doubt I'll ever do that again :P Honestly, I think Pete and A Single Point in Space work well together (one is quite silly and the other is quite dry), and while folks'll probably find it a little frustrating in a "does this ever fit together?" department, I do like introducing the idea that specific episodes can have their own "identity". So far each episode has had a little secret task/challenge I wanted to tackle with it, and the challenge with this one was "can we capture that stupid high-school-backyard-filmmaking energy that got us into filmmaking in the first place?" I should sleep, but I wanted to share this before I hit the sack! Massive thanks to all the people who helped get this finished (including you, if you're reading this! Thank you so much for being here!) Thank you so much for letting me focus all my energy on this! Okay sleep time.

How do we deserve 2 Dynamo episodes in 2 weeks?!

BIPMATT

ooooh Pete! x.

IanHubert

Ahahaha well this one is a silly one

alex

Amazing!

emlyn

Hell yeah

AR

Thanks :)

Timo van Wyk

The humour and VFX in this are on point, especially when finding out where Ian was hiding every time. Fantastic Work!

vanLeiden

That was fantastic! Really enjoyed the weird wackiness! Love the little detail when Pterodactyl Dad tells Pete he could be king and the broken glass forms a crown on Pete's head. Beautiful

Deskinem

Seriously loving the Dynamo credits music. Boppin.

conorsvfx

I just know you were chuckling the entire time that PE E sign was rendering

Manuel Peters

Yay! So excited to see these come to life!

Michał Skurzewski

Had to watch the second time before i realised theres a whole another sotry in the credits! Great episode!

Fernando Sala

Remember kids, if you find yourself lost in the desert, don't eat the expired canned aspargus that roll off a spaceship cargo carrier. You can end up turning yourself into a pterodactyl dad cosplayer, and your only daughter might help the stranger that you saved, kill you and flee with your guitar.

Blake Rizzo

“It’s nice to feel wanted, it says that on the poster”.… just so wonderful. Absolutely loved it, he’s truly the king of em-all!!!

Dave Makes a Movie

You are spoiling us with a double dose of Hubert goodness. Awesome as always

Richard Cave

going to approach this as a VFX Supervisor , and going to tell you the truth even if it hurts, Interactive lighting on the reflective surfaces left and right of the hologram face, shadow catcher needed on the base as it moves about, timelapse is awesome, guy with the goatee far too handsome, 3:19 needs stronger light blooming behind the arch to the right, creeping into the side of the barrel, might need a subtle lens element in there, nice image though. 6:31 breath element in the cold, everything else is awesome, I did not check the subtitles cos I am lazy.

Jamie Costa

Legend. And challenge complete. You definitely captured that energy and spirit you aimed for.

Jamie Costa

I also loved the end credits bits like those are super impressive and fun even on their own

Second Dune

You'll never feel more alive than flirting with disoster

Ben Lovelady

Now THIS feels like classic Karma Pirates. Totally off the rails, hard to follow, but surprisingly compelling.

Zap Andersson

Is it just me or is the sound lacking some bass!? Also, I hear Sam Gorski in there :P

Giles Barton-Owen

Subtitles "why I only *eat* roadkill" not that he says eat really but I think it's implied enough in the voice track with an e sound

Stephan

Wow, best credits scene I've ever seen. I would happily take another several minutes of Russ boy and Russbot. I thought the canned asparagus was canned guacamole at first. *Also very happy to see someone make 'them all' and 'the mall' joke stick. I've never been able to pull it off.

aptass

Loved it! Epic fightscene and the end credits got me wanting more. There is much to spin further tales on for sure. But I guess that's the nature av Pete

Mr. Nerd

The end credits song was shockingly emotional--well done on the episode!

The Water Lettuce Society

10/10 This was amazing, the perfect video to watch while on break. The music was perfect, the end credits were amazing, and don't even get me started on the mall fight scene.

mykey

YOOOOOOOOO

Gehrig Campbell-Dempsey

Holy shit, an absolute fever dream. Laughed out loud so many times. Insane. 10/10 wonderful.

Chromfell

That's my favorite line from the song, I've been singing it to myself every so often for a while 🤣

Mason Lev

This was amazing! Such a great addition to the world!

Tewan

After watching this two times, I think this really is your best work yet. The other episodes struggled telling a story that's understandable. In salad mug, i didn't even see Jo jumping around in the background and thought we're just looking at random city shots. Here there's a really clear progression and the writing is perfect. While I think it's cool to see an overarching story come together over the span of a season, each episode needs to stand on its own two feet. The single point in space episode gave me a few too many questionmarks which were not answered. Again, not resolving everything right away is cool, but you know what I mean. I think that's the main criticism I hear about dynamo: "It's fun to watch but I have no idea what's going on". Now we understand what's going on! I'm super excited about this show now that it doesn't seem to much like a CG collage anymore. It's a really fun time and you're such an inspiration to all of us! I hope I don't sound critical, I just want to point out that you're now nailing the aspect dynamo struggled with most for a long time!

Kai Christensen

I'm so glad to have another Dynamo episode that's so firmly in the territory of "oh my god what was in those pancakes i ate for breakfast, i think i'm losing my grip on reality". a fever dream within a fever dream within a fever dream, i think i need to take a few weeks to process whatever it was i just watched. thank you for keeping the internet wacky ian!

James Hope

Such a masterpiece, truly captures the energy of improvised childhood filmmaking but in a fully realised vision as if we are experiencing exactly what you were dreaming up on the fly. Wacky, Hilarious, Art!

Owen Jenkins Design

I'm pretty sure the King of the Mall was Sam from Corridor, am I correct? I know you mentioned you've shot some shots with them in the past breakdowns of the show!

Pete Burges

I like that this reality you've created is big enough to encompass the lives of billions and every one of them has a story. Some will be as big and important as saving the galaxy, some will be inconsequential and wacky, and occasionally these things will overlap. Your Dynamo world is now a self-perpetuating story engine.

Paul Spooner

Subtitle Check: 04:28 the initial 'So' in the subtitles is not voiced in audio. 05:30 the initial 'it's' is voiced more like 'is' 08:37 Subtitles are missing the trailing 'Mmm!' 10:33 Subtitles are missing '[UPBEAT WESTERN SHOWDOWN MUSIC]'

Paul Spooner

If I'm not mistaken, 2:45 is the first time Shade Tower has appeared in Dynamo Dream. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Also at 15:36 Russboy appears to be in a running battle with a Superintelligence lifter. I'd say it's already fitting together, but then again, I got a peek at the script 14 years ago. Interested to see how much things have shifted (or should I say 'drifted?') since then.

Mark Pottman

Phenomenal work Ian! I'd say this is your best work so far, both from a technical level as well as a narrative storytelling level. This was a truly expressive piece!

Zeke Faust

We see the Shade tower for a brief shot in Salad Mug as well! It's during the ending at 19:29

Tyler Adams

I'm here for this! heck yeaah!

Jeffrey Lee

Well, that was a trip and a half! Subtitle at 03:33 - "'s why I only roadkill" ("eat" is missing)

SwaMusic

Pete AND YARDDD! 🎸

Killian Tell Strassheim

You are killing it man! 😂 I loved everything especially the effortless fun lil shots of your imagination at play 🤩🥳😜 I see the storylines coming together a lil more and I can’t wait to see where it’s all going!!! 😍 also your music is flippin awesome 😂😋

Cory Douthat

What a ride! And quite possibly the best end credits sequence I've ever seen!

redishere

«can we capture that stupid high-school-backyard-filmmaking energy that got us into filmmaking in the first place?» answer is HECK YEAH

Jeff Betz

That was so good. I had to watch it twice and understood way more the second time around. Did you shoot Pete in the winter just for those two brief shots? Or was that VFX? I love the nod to the Dark Crystal. Was there also a nod to the Total Recall “See you at the party, Ricter” scene?

Wolfers

LETS GOOOOO!!!

Wolfers

I think the credits is my favorite part. Thats so cool. Mega Land battlship is so cool.

Al

Knife robot merch please :D

J.D.Lee

Fking amazing. I mean, the city/world you’ve constructed for all these movies is just incredible.

Mason Lev

On my third watching and I keep wondering, can the crabs speak?! Please let the crabs speak! Ok! Gonna watch all three in a row now! High five Ian!

Lukas Sprehn

Any word on a high quality download? ❤️

Zeeette

Yo you should put that song in the credits onto Spotify and apple music, I love it, feels like your world

Tewan

Are you going to do a retrospective breakdown of the last two episodes like you did with the boat shoot and salad mug?

Michael Ben Silva III

Totally agree! I keep going back to replay 'I am the Disoster' and I would also love to be able to have it mp3 style

Christoph Lendenfeld

This prompted me to finally become a patron, absolutely weird and awesome. You are a wizard

Brent Holzheimer

This was just amazing!!!, Russ Boy and the freeway pirates were absolutely my favorites. Thank you so much Ian!!!

IanHubert

Personally, the whole thing is a love letter to manic 2005-era high-school indie filmmaking (in the wrapper of an unreliable narrator telling you a story at a bar), so mileage is definitely going to vary :P But I was serious about the unseriousness!

Anonymous

Okay I see. I met no offense though, it's pretty extraordinary what you can do without massive sets or large productions.

Wandering Wolf

This made me cry with how amazing it is. I love the characters, the nonchalance that Pete has, and the crazy radiation-asparagus battle with the King of the Mall! Thanks for making your imagination into something we can all experience and enjoy. BTW, love the song.

Trym Ruud

This is really good, the part where Pete said the king og them all was inside his mind, but pete also said now im in my mind made me think of lucid dreaming/astral projection. Makes me wonder if that was an inspiration? Thanks for an amazing video:)
