The Midnight Gazette – Issue #6: Ship's End (Patreon)

Content
At the southern edge of Latakar, where sea routes narrow and inland roads begin, Ship’s End works without spectacle. Crates change hands at low tide, lanterns burn only when needed, and schedules matter more than names. Goods arrive as one thing and leave as another, and no one asks questions unless delays force them to.

Ship’s End is a small coastal town with outsized importance. It serves as the primary maritime gateway to Olbia, receiving shipments from across the southern seas before breaking them apart for inland travel. Dock crews, brokers, chapel keepers, and quiet observers keep trade moving through routine, timing, and unspoken agreements. Smuggling thrives not through chaos, but through efficiency, redirection, and paperwork altered at the right moment.
This issue explores Ship’s End as a living trade junction, where pressure builds quietly and problems surface only when something fails to move on time. Encounters focus on diverted cargo, disputed transfers, and the thin line between cooperation and exploitation in a town that cannot afford attention.
Includes dockside encounters, investigation hooks, urban tension points, and a long-form trouble arc centered on missing shipments and invisible routes.
Themes: Trade, Timing, Silence, Pressure

Issue #6 presents Ship’s End, a working port town that connects ocean trade to Latakar’s inland heart. This issue provides detailed locations, two integrated dockside battlemaps, layered encounters built around commerce and smuggling, practical NPCs, and a slow-burn mystery involving redirected cargo and contested authority. Designed for flexible insertion into ongoing campaigns, Ship’s End rewards careful observation, negotiation, and decisions made under quiet pressure.
