I am working dilligently towards putting together a mother of all 2G-ACM style two gun match on Feb 3rd and 4th, 2018.

The divisions are being discussed but worked on, including a new potential "Warfighter" division that would be a combination of Arrmored+Trooper+Headgear (helmets).

Imagine everything you've seen in 2g-ACM matches but ramped up, over two days, with 8 or 9 stages.  Some of the guys from Varusteleka will be in attendence, they will be partially sponsoring the event, and we may see some P&S folks there as well.

It would be held at Cowtown, north west of Phoenix, AZ.

I'm trying to garner an idea of what we're looking at in regards to attendence.

To make this real we need to hit a minimum of 120 competitors, and they will be required to pre-pay to ensure that we hit the number.

At this point we're looking at a $200 match fee to make this viable.

I have included a $150 option below for the data but I am not certain that we will be able to successfully run this at that lower entry fee.   $150 puts this dangerously close to losing money and I can't go into debt to run this.

In that end, I'm throwing up a poll to the Patreons - your thoughts?

Ben Gwilliam

I would go but with travel not feasible for me. I would pay 200

Landon McFall

Warfighter sounds like it could be a fun addition. Would love to go, but unfortunately I live in Alabama.

D Lewis

I would go and pay $200, but I live in California and the distance is to far.

Adam Stacy

Would if I lived in AZ. Or was single w/o kids.

Jeffrey

Will there be a C&R dvision? In any case I want in. Gonna have to take a few days off for it though.

Brian Purkiss

I am 90% confident I'd be able to make it. Really want to and probably will be able to.

Vityaz

Alas, I would love to go, but the travel is not possible within in the next year. $200 is reasonable though.

Bruce Brodnax

What? PIRATES + GUNS = *FUN*! "ARRRRmored + xxx..." I'm in! ;-)

Andrew Bethards

We have court for our foster son on the 1st. But that fee seems reasonable for the type of event.

Rumblestrip

The $200 entry fee isn't the issue, it's the flight, car and lodging for me. Coming from Detroit, driving isn't really an option as much as I'd love to do this. Just shot my first 2 Gun match this past weekend and had a ton of fun.

Sean Smith

I would pay $200 easy for such an event, but I lack a rifle and other gear.

Billy Kelley Jr.

Is the date really firm? Because if it was in March it would be within the beginning of tax returns season and easier to make travel arrangements, although I'm fairly sure I couldn't make it, I just thought of that as a help for me and probably others. I would definitely pay $200, just getting my old lady to understand and a plane ticket would be the real work.

Jonathan Jones

I think this is a fantastic idea, given you can at least break even. Please dont put your own finances at risk for the sake of a single match. Do you think, perhaps, if you know you will lose money that you could have some kind of 1 time donation where we as patrons could chip in a few $ even if we wont be attending? Due to school and travel i know i wont be able to make it, but ill gladly donate so that hopefully others will be able to enjoy the match.

Bruce Brodnax

In all actuality, it's a tough call: while I realize that these events can't happen in a vacuum, even at $150 for the match fee, I'm looking at a lot of time & travel costs to get to Phoenix, hotel, etc. on top of the cost of the match. Plus I suck [from lack of practice] and timing is problematic [What? You're scheduling this for GROUNDHOG DAY? That's going to cut into my annual ritual of watching Bill Murray abduct Punxatawney Phil!] OTOH, the opporknockity to meet up w/ the Finns from Varusteleka doesn't tune up very often. Hmm...

Spencer R

Honestly, I'm fairly insensitive to price. The big hurdle for me is driving the 800 miles and events like this where I get to amortize the driving over more competition are great! Would there be a manual/C&R division? I'd really love to run it with some of my WWII era gear.

Whatismoo

I certainly would attend if possible, but due to scheduling conflict I can not

Alex Perry

I would love to but I don't know where I'm going to be in February yet...

Spencer R

I'm also fairly certain I can round up a couple more folks to constitute the California contingent.

Bruce Brodnax

I realize that this is a special timing thing [I imagine it coincides with the window for SHOT when the group from Varusteleka comes over anyway?] I'd like to suggest you schedule something similar to mesh up for the CMP Western Games in October? [But obviously, w/o the Varusteleka crowd.] I know that once I'm already in Phoenix for that [multiday] event, it would be a small matter to tack a couple of extra days on the end to do a 2GACM at Cowtown either before or [better yet] after the WGs. I'm not that interested in sticking around for the Creedmoor match(es) that are already tacked onto the WGs, since that sort of high-end match competition is so far beyond my equipment & skill set... But adding a 2GACM match to the fun? Yeah, I'd be up for that!

Bruce Brodnax

How soon will you need a firm commitment on this? It's a little hard for me to think about right now, I need to focus on finding a new place to live & upcoming holiday cr@p, so this is way down the list for snap decisions, but would sure love to make it happen!

Bruce Brodnax

Hey Karl: what about adding at "I'd come & spectate for a $20 [or insert whatever you think the market would bear] fee to meet up w/ all of you & cheer you on" option to the poll? It might help offset the lower match fee to make it more feasible to get this off the ground?

Bruce Brodnax

Bring the kids! Every competitor should have their own cheering section! ;-D

Bruce Brodnax

Cowtown is in Phoenix, so another hour closer than where the guys live in Tucson. If you live in L.A.Co., Phoenix is actually a shorter drive than SFO. Plus there's the "carpool" option if you can coordin8 w/ another competitor. Something to think about...

Adam Stacy

When he's older, for SURE! Heck, when he's old enough, (I hope) he'll be my battle buddy. But Houston to AZ is a long trip for a 3 y/o.

Reverend Charles

I'm down with $200 as long as it includes some form of cock.

D Lewis

From my exp there isn't a lot of people like me in CA that would be willing to do the 5 hour drive + convert our guns once we get across statelines + reconvert before coming home, etc, etc. I'd love to do it, but I couldn't sign up/pay for it without KNOWING I had a solid partner to split the drive/cost of it.

Corey Allhands

I'm in most likely, $175? And I can't vote on the poll. Edit: voting worked when in post main list but not in the actual post.

Marklar

If I was anywhere in the Southwest I would but the trip from Michigan makes it tough.

Jevidar Ba'cho

The entrance fee isn't the issue for me. It's that I would only have enough vacation time for one major trip. This would compete with Hard as Hell for my annual trip.

InRange TV

Unfortunately that's the only viable date.

InRange TV

There will not be a C&R division. You could shoot with that gear but expect to time out and/or utterly fail in most (or all) of the stages.

John Elliott

As many have said already, $200 for that type of event would be worth it for me. Just the other associated costs of flights and lodging from the east coast keep me from signing up immediately.

Billy Kelley Jr.

Well maybe the year after that then, was looking into it and all told for the match cost, plane/train ticket, hotel, ammo, rental car, and a hard case for my guns I would be looking at $1000 easy, I can swing that around tax time but that's about it. I definitely like the idea another guy had about doing a special Patreon push like Ian did with the Panchor Jackhammer vid. I would donate a little extra for the spirit of the event even if I can't make it.

Samuel K Harsha

Maybe an optional discount for "The Muscle" level and up? Either way I'm down for a full $200.

David Hynes

I can’t go, but that sounds badass and I would love to see footage of it.

jade

I would love to attend but can't, not due to the price but do to getting the time off and getting the logistics in place to go out there . Best o luck though.

Angry

Just checking: Feb 2/3 is Fri/Sat not Sat/Sun. Is that right? If it was Sat/Sun, I'm 90% sure I could come, if Fri/Sat that drops to 50%.

InRange TV

Duh, yes. I goofed and just fixed it. This would be the 3rd and 4th, Saturday and Sunday.

Angry

Awesome! In that case, barring something crazy happening in my life, I'm in.

Giovanni B. Ponzetto

I am in Italy, how much do I have to drool over this post? envy and pride in equal parts.

Thomas Bobay

Count me in. Is the match you have in mind adaptable to a PCC division? If it is, I might be able to have my wife shoot as well.

Almeida

I absolutely want to go. $200 wouldn't be a problem. But when would I have to register by? But I am in Memphis and would prefer to fly in, any advice on how to get my guns there?

Jimmy

If I could make it and I would like to come I would definitely pay $200. Sounds like fun to me.

Cal

I could probably come with a few others (two or three) as well. Is this going to be in addition to the regular Jan 20th match, or instead of it?

Jonathan Gould

I would be able to attend as long as I dont have school stuff going on.

InRange TV

This will not be a PCC friendly event, sorry. :(

Joshua Fairhurst

$200 for the match is a great price, but I'm not able to go at this time. Maybe the next one!

Teddy

My budget says no for this winter, unfortunately, but due to rifle and pistol acquisition expenses, not the match fee. $200 seems pretty reasonable for what you're offering. Next year would be friendlier, so I hope the match makes and proves well-supported enough to repeat!

Firearms Fuel&Fabrication

I left my answer blank for the reason traveling from PA to there would make planning tge time off work difficult. The $200 entry fee is no problem. But if the guys from Varusteleka bring fish cock. I might have to make that happen.

Dayhiker42

I would love to be able to attend, but I live on the other side of the country.

Sturmgewehrr

If I can somehow get the day off I’d attend

InRange TV

Stop living in such a weird place! :)

David Selby

A couple of questions; What would the round count look like, and how noob friendly would it be? I've never shot a match before.

Brian Parker

This is the kind of match I would try my best to make it to!

Thomas Bobay

Gotcha. I'm still in, but unlikely that I will have her comfortable with a rifle by then.

Dylan Kempster

I wish there was a fourth option, "would attend but live in another country and are unable to attend". Feb is a bit short notice for a international shooting trip from Australia

Sidney Reilley

Need to see what the classes are. I'm not interested in buying helmets or armor, had enough of that. 🐆

Les Winner

I am hesitant to answer as I don't want to skew your poll figures. 200.00 is not an issue as fee though. I wish it was one weekend earlier as I will be in that section of the country for SHOT show and it would be very easy to extend my trip 1 weekend. When will you put out all the details for the match as far as classes arer concerned and round count etc....

Paul Anzalone

I haven't participated in 2GACM in a couple of years. So this would be awesome!

Jordan

I already told you I was down!! :)

Mobius

Already got the vacation days blocked out. Quick question though, would bump helmets be acceptable? or must they be ballistic?

Chris burkett

That drive from southern Indiana would be a doosey. However, I did just find a 2 gun match at the end of the month in IN. Currently assessing the minimum amount of gear I would need to acquire to participate.

Nick R

I would LOVE to attend and will make every effort to do so. Unfortunately can't give a definitive "yes or no" at the moment though

RyGon Rux

Wish I could! Hope you all have fun!

Jon G

I’m in

-Kris-

Wish I could, but travel isn't really an option at the moment

Kugelschreiber

If they ship me with their stuff sure :)

KyleNo4Mk2

I can't really vote. I would pay up and attend, if I lived in any way closer. I really doubt I could get the time off and arrange travel to AZ by Feb. Maybe? Unfortunately I have tough time making it to my local 2 gun match (which at least exists now!) due to my work schedule.

koyote

I can probably make it from northern nevada, $200 is doable if the rooms aren't crazy. $150 is better only because I could probably bring a partner that way.

Spencer R

Cool, I have other gear, and I've got at least other person who is happy to make the trip and pay $200.

Agostino Ventura

I would definitely attend, if only plane tickets from Italy were at least barely within reach of my pockets. That said, 200$ seems a reasonable fee.

TJ

I would love to take part, but I´` m living too faraway(Finland).

Pro Gun Millennial

I'll try to attend if there's a 2nd annual. Cost is not my reason for missing out this year.

Bucho4Prez

I feel the same way, but it would be a good excuse to buy some pelican cases... Where aboots is the match in IN?

ViggenCA

Canadian here, unable to attend even with best interest in this event. 200 would be fine for an equivalent event up here, so that's my virtual vote (won't vote on the poll to avoid skewing the results for those able to attend).

MichaelPee

HOTELS?? Could we arrange a discount at a local hotel for us coming from far off areas?

Bruce Brodnax

Too true! I think you get a "bye" on this event! ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

Flights are cheap that time of year... ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

You've got 3 months, and .223 in a locked action doesn't kick substantially more than a 9mm blowback, it's just the concussion that she needs to get used to. To the shooting range, Robin! [/Batguy] ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

YT has some vids on "flying with guns" or use your Google-fu... The info is out there!

Bruce Brodnax

Good Q about the round count! Out of towners needing to pick up ammo locally might lead to shortages if attendance goes viral. Since the PRK ammo ban begins Jan 1, I know that I don't expect to export any ammo from here after that date, only bring more in [until even that becomes illegal in June, iirc... This stoopid state!]

Bruce Brodnax

Hitch a ride w/ the Varusteleka folks? Get a subsidy from the govt. to support national pride by participating in this world-class international event? Pay for your ticket by smuggling in fishcock? :-D

Andrew Whitehead

As much as I'd like to, I'm too far away and too broke for the experience.

Matt Torres

Maybe at $150, because travel and time off from Virginia would be expensive and every little bit helps.

grafradetzkyvonradetz

Would totally do this if I didn't live on the other side of the planet!

John Ohme

Sounds great, but I've already signed up for a winter shoot in WI and can't afford ammo for both. Sorry guys.

Renaud

I would if I lived on the same side of the Atlantic. Anyone knows about an event like that near Switzerland ?

Andrew Drust

If this were to take place again in 2019, I would definitely make it a point to try and attend. Unfortunately, I won't be in a position to attend this year. Now that I know, I will make it a goal in the future.

Primal Tempest

I'd love to do a 2gm but I live in Wisconsin and the only things that are around here are gun clubs and indoor ranges and they don't like anything larger than 308

Michael Smith

Option 4: I have never participated in any completion, yet have no problem checking my ego and attend an event later in the year.

Michael Smith

^^^^ watching both of you competing and Ian's progress are quite motivating. And,, big and, watching Ian run a bolt is worth the price of admission.

Josh B.

I’d love to go to every match but I live thousands of miles away and would never be able to make it.

Mike Bregman

If I was closer. But I am almost an entire continental land mass away from Arizona

Shane A

If I were closer and in better health I would love to attend. I plan on recovering and moving closer so maybe in a year or so.

TJ

I think it´ s not a viable option. Sure I could bring some fishcock if I would be able to come! :-D

Nicholas Pisarek

Any excuse to get me out of the cold for a week is a good one, I'm in.

Laurence Hastings

If I can get Monday Feb. 5th off from work due to the drive home to Las Vegas,NV after the match on Sunday I would really like to try this. Also I am an absolute amateur-is this OK or is the match for serious competitors only?

Kevin Malloy

I’m planning on coming over from El Paso. I’ve never done anything like this outside of LE training but it’s too close to pass up on the fun. When I checked with a buddy who lives in the Phoenix area about staying with him during the match, he said to count him in for it too if possible.

Kenneth Schleich

It sounds awesome, but unfortunately I can't travel that weekend... I would totally pay 200$ if I could though!

Harry Brandt

You make me seriously consider finding warmer climates. The drive from Ohio would be a little much. Someday I'll make it, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Ernie Anderson

I would definitely attend if takes off as I can’t make it this year (obligations) ... I live in Michigan and would be willing to travel to such an event. Sounds great 👍🏼 And 2 hundo is ok with me...

Matthew Tuttle

Looks awesome. Being in college that makes both money and time tight. Just wanted to give some input on why I said I can't attend. My grandparents live down your way so maybe that could be an excuse after college to go down for something like that. Thanks!

Joe Peacock

If I was in the area, I would be there! I really want to test my crappy shooting skills in a match environment.

Bob McCormick

I was wondering if you were going to host the Varestuleka guys after Shot Show.

Patrick Eads

$200 is a reasonable price. So, I voted yes, but I probably wouldn't be able to attend due to location constraints.

Ed Motlin

^same except im in mass

Ove Toranger

Different country and continent unfortunately, otherwise I'd love to pop by !

CavScout

Come up to northern MN in January for some of that Winter War weather and feel!

Patrick OConnor

I'm intimidated by the likelyhood of being turned away from an event. I haven't taken time off of work to attend a competition in years. The last time I attempted a competition, I went with a friend, and told him they surely would turn us away for no reason. We arrived early, waited for the match director to show up, and when he did, he told us we showed up late and couldn't attend. I never said a word nor unpacked my stuff. The time before that, I showed up and spoke to the match director. He said, "Everyone was already here, so we started early" and turned us away. It's very unlikely that I'll drive over just to be turned away.
