Oohh okay interesting!! I couldn’t tell if that was mentioned before or I was just imagined it. I really love that, I’ve noticed that other MLM works sometimes have the character in Sooch’s place have zero sexual experience as if having been with a woman somehow invalidates their newfound exploration, but this feels more realistic, esp for someone like Sooch who wasn’t exploring his orientation like Howie. Bittie’s writing 🔛🔝

Great communication, wonder why there's no discussion whatsoever about sooch topping. He was only with women before Howie after all. Feels like they just accepted their roles because of their body sizes (which is weird). As a gay guy this convo seems a little unrealistic but I like the effort.

Yeah I don't think it's ever directly mentioned in the main comic, but I do believe it was said that he's dated girls in the past. And he knows that sex is important to him in a relationship, so that implies to me that he's had sexual relationships before, just never with a man, or, more specifically ig, one where he intrinsically feels like the more "submissive" one

Absolutely not, at most, it should only feel unfamiliar at first. If your partner is willing to help you prep, and you're able to properly relax it should not hurt! Also, tons of lube. Better too much than not enough. I'd recommend something silicone based, or a silicone+water mix since silicone helps it not dry out as quickly. Also, figuring out prep on your own first can help you guide your partner in the future to do it properly *IF* you ever wanna try bottoming again. Some people take less time to prep, and for some it can be a whole process, so slow and steady does it🙂‍↕️

Bittie explained in comments on the last episode that Howie actually did assume that Sooch would want to top and was perfectly fine with bottoming, hence why he was surprised last episode when Sooch insinuated wanting to try bottoming. Bittie also mentioned that they switch, so no, they don’t assume roles just because of their size!

That's great, but comments are not the comic. Just saying. Hermione being "black" or Dumbledore being gay on Twitter does not make it a thing in cannon. I'm just pointing out that the convo is odd in the comic. As a gay switch myself I've had this convo enough to know it's odd. Not hating, just saying it's odd.

I’m curious if howie using “make love to you” in the last update implied sooch bottoming… I didn’t feel like it did but this conversation seems to be directed to that idea, aka sooch being nervous about bottoming. Like I’ve known people that had similar experiences (bottoming for the first time in a gay relationship after only being in relationships if women before topping their partner), and I don’t think it’s necessarily bad if that’s what it was implying in that last page- idk, just felt kinda like this would be a bigger deal, but i think it’s ok if it isn’t. Anyway, love the art

Just to add my two cents in (not arguing, I think all these points are valid!) - I think there’s a little bit of newness fear happening as well. Neither of them have had this convo with anyone before (other than Howie’s first time, which we don’t really know the specifics of, if I’m remembering the side-comic right) and both of them value each other so much that they’re afraid to say something to scare the other off (particularly Howie being afraid of scaring Sooch), and Sooch not even really knowing how to bring it up or talk about it at all, so I can definitely imagine Howie operating from a stance of “whatever Sooch offers is enough” instead of approaching him first. But that’s just me - I totally get wanting there to be more of an explicit dialogue about it!! Also, omg, ugh, the stereotypical “straight til I met you” trope is… such a problem. I’m happy with exploring the horrors of comphet and people (particularly bi people, as a bi/demi myself) not realizing their feelings were actually attraction, etc., but just jumping straight to “OH, guess I’ve always actually been gay and 100% a bottom at heart! I just needed this guy’s giant magic dick to make me realize it!!” is painful every time. I can’t speak from Howie’s perspective as a bi woman, but my experience was a lot like Sooch’s, where I went many years thinking I was only into men, but then realizing I actually felt the same about everyone and just live in a world where opportunities for women to have romantic interactions with anyone OTHER than cis men have to be intentionally sought out - which isn’t something I’m inclined to do, so it never happened - which is why this story is so compelling to me, I think. Finding that whole new part of yourself that you went years not seeing at all is such a strange experience, and I’m so happy for Sooch to have someone like Howie who is so understanding about it all 🥰

Comparing fan art/fan fics on twitter to actual lore from the author themselves is crazy work why are you so pressed bc virtue didn’t put more dialogue in this chapter? The convo will carry on in future chapters it’s not like they just fell asleep and made an assumption ab who goes with who. Bittie has stated before in the past they are a switch couple in further chapters for rewards and what not. If anyone is assuming it’s yall… just enjoy the comic it’s not always gonna fit realistic conversations/timing/formatting bc it’s difficult to do in a comic as bittie has stated before that dialog is tricky bc of that.

The comment about Twitter was literally comments from the author that never made it in the book. Same type of deal. If authors say something about the story that isn't in the story itself, it isn't canon. At most it's a cop out. Everything that happens in the NSFW or comments is not canon, they don't count. If bittie ever releases these as books, she won't include comics or the NSFW standalone comics, so they don't count. This whole thing is a reaction to LIGHT criticism about this conversation in this section of the comic and how gay/bi men are being represented. If it turns out different, great.

It's honestly a complicated topic, largely because BL as a genre isn't primarily written for gay men. It's written for women. It doesn't accurately depict gay culture or the way men relate to each other. So, when gay men read it you have a combination of reactions that are very hard to separate. One is of a queer person who is not being accurately represented, the other is of a man who is, unlike a lot of their expirience, not being centred. And men, even queer men are very used to being centred. There's a LOT of queer folks who really want their expirience to be reflected in art, it's understandable, we've lived in a desert of that for so damn long, but it's also important to take a step back and realise that your expirience isn't universal. And BL comics and novels are primarily written by women for other women. One of the reasons is we are so traumatized by sexism and mysogeny that we write ourselves out of our own romance stories to get an expirience of what it would be like to have a relationship with a man where we aren't TREATED like a woman. So if you're feeling disappointed that this isn't doing it for you, it's likely because it wasn't written FOR you. You have every right to feel disappointed, but I don't think authors owe us realism, and this is a work in progress. It's not finished, you don't know what roles are going to be taken up or expressed sexually. And frankly, with the amount of stress Sooch is under, I can understand the notion that in bed, for now, he doesn't want to be in charge. The mental load is crushing him. Why wouldn't ge want to just lie back and let his more expirienced partner take over and let him be more passive for once? Heck, it's even in the conversation. Topping for the first time while stressed to the eyeballs with school... I can understand why he may want to be receiving first.

@red elizabeth just to respond to your last comment - 'receiving' can be just as active and 'topping' can be passive too. Thats what different positions are for.. i think things like that perpetuate the assumptions made with these different roles. That the more 'active' partner is automatically the top.

the way you captured the adhd experience of feeling like your always running out of time is so accurate like in howies mind he's more clear headed and probably thinks that sooch is thinking too far ahead in a somewhat 'irrational' way but I understand sooch. Like in his mind he knows what he can endure and thinking about it in that moment makes him see things with kind of tunnel vision. I often do this, it can feel overwhelming seeing things as a straight path and having to accomplish certain things by a certain time or else it'll get too much

If bittie ever released this in a press copy, the story would likely be complete and this wouldn’t even BE a debate. She knows how her comic is going to go and which direction it’s going in. Ppl on twitter creating fan fics aren’t the author/artists of the novel/comic so no it’s not the same thing. The rewards are there for a reason. You’re acting like the novel is complete alr and it’s not and hopefully it’s no where near ending. They DO count bc they’re fem the DIRECT source of the content you’re consuming. It is canon. And yeah you’re right, maybe they won’t win the actual story, but the actual story will likely still follow this trend, it’s not like she’s gonna change her mind years after this has been stated as a fact.
