Greater forces that are outside of human control are at work here. The same forces that govern the changing of the seasons, or the rising and setting of the sun is also the master of luck and the fate of individuals. Where it lands is as random as chance - you may find yourself at either the top or bottom, but remember that no matter what the outcome it may not last for very long, for the wheel always turns. (Labyrinthos.com)

For this card I was thinking of what would fit a circle/round symbol that could be used for this card. There were multiple other options, for example Varun. But the Stoma was what I personally found the most interesting. I also think the mystery around the stoma and the scene in the book fits the description.

Similarly to the Rider Waite card I put the main actors of this scene in the four corners: Pyrrha trying to get to Gide-Harrow, Ianthe swimming towards John and Augustine fighting.

There are actually three versions to this card:

I can't really decide which is my favourite. Currently I'm leaning towards + symbols in a 3D way because it looks really interesting.

Thoughts?

I didn't have many different ideas for the Stoma. It was pretty clear to me it's gonna be a top view POV with potentially the symbolic wheel over it.

References

Many different elements besides some tarot inspiration, this time. For one, a water whirl, teeth/open mouth, swimming.. But also octopus which I found would best resemble the tongues and be good references for some 3D effect.

I really don't know how people immediately choose the correct colors because mine never really match initially. I put a gradient map on it to get it closer to what I wanted it to look, which was a very pink-ish and lavender/blue tone.

Here you can see the exact gradient map I used going from first to middle image:

And that's it for now! I hope you enjoy! This card was REALLY fun to work on!

Next up is the Empress with Glaurica and afterwards I'll put up new polls! ๐Ÿ’›

Cheers!

As always I am always so starstruck but the detailed process of your work. I love the motion in the picture and I do feel like having the symbol in the center is essential, so I prefer tumbnail 2 and 3. The wheel is one of my favorite cards as it represents so much hope and movement to me, but you've created this huge action scene filled with anticipation ๐Ÿ‘

Ive never had a very good idea of what I thought the stoma looked like thoroughly in my head so this was really cool to see. Easily one of my favorites in the set so far ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Fae Thompson

I love the middle one, with the tongues intertwining with the symbols!

RaineBird

I also love the middle one-- it looks horrible and terrifying and I love it ๐Ÿ˜†

Chimchiri

I think that may be my fave as well. Thank you <3

Chimchiri

It does and it was amazing to draw something more grotesque for once! <3 Thank you

Chimchiri

Thank youu!! Yes it's not a seemingly lucky depiction haha. It was super fun to draw it though. Glad you like it! <3 Thank you!! (Also this is definitely one of my faves so far as well <3)

Whell thats the thing with wheel of fortune( and tarot in general). It doesnt always mean doom, nor gradure. Its always coming and going.

Chimchiri

Agreed. Plus what I love is that the interpretations are vast! It's why I love looking at many other decks as well!

I l9ved seeing the differnt decks youve shown in all your research. Do you have a favorite deck so far? One of my first decks was The Wild Unknown, and it really helped me learn how to inturpret cards.

Elfie

You have managed to make this equally appealing and terrifying. Well done hon!

Chimchiri

I have the Wild Unknown as well, though I assume it must be a fake copy tbh. It's very lovely. I can't choose a favourite but one that stuck with me the most is The Wondering Spirit tarot because every single card is depicted by a nude woman with a skeleton. I'm fascinated by the concept. The Tarot of the Divine is also one of my faves because of its non-Rider Waite depictions and very intense colors. One of the most recent is the Magic Soul Tarot -it's beautiful illustrations but I think many cards are only beautiful and hard to see which card it is immediately.

IIlines

Oh wow. Those are really beautiful sets. I agree the Wondering spirit is simple and direct to the similarities to the Rider deck, but still has very beautiful composition. And the magic soul is just beautiful! I can see where the readability is not face value though. I actually also have a tarot of the devine set! I love the stories that come with each card

Ohh wow I love that design

Chimchiri

Thank you! <3 it was a challenge but fun to work on

Nova

I'm obsessed, I LOVE your creativity !!!

somnium_regis

Chim this one is INCREDIBLY detailed! WOW!!! You can really get the vibe that this is the wheel of fortune. This is an excellent rendition of the sense of that card. The art is also stunning. All of the details are super eye catching and every time you look you see something new.

Chimchiri

thank you so much!! I must have overlooked this comment, so sorry for the late response! <3 I'm glad you enjoy the card so much!
