The Swamps of Sadness (Patreon)

The Mushfens, commonly called the Swamps of Sadness is one of the most treacherous places in the realm. The swamp is famous because of the many bardic tales of surviving  adventurers of decimated parties who narrowly escaped the wretched bog with their lives. Frog people, massive snakes, black dragons, witches and kelpies were but some of the dangers one encountered there, but some  of the swamp's most notorious denizens were the fearsome lizardmen. Standing taller than most orcs, the reptilian warriors were fiercely territorial and did not suffer trespassers in their lands. Autumn traveled through the bog atop Leo, her dire lion. The sun was setting and the darkness of night would make the already deadly swamp even more dangerous. Leo stopped and growled at the surrounding waters. Although Autumn saw no enemies about, she implicitly trusted her steed and raised her massive greatsword, ready to smite the first foe within reach. Time seemed to stand still as the two heroes waited for the oncoming assault.Suddenly, several reptilian warriors emerged out of the surrounding muck and set upon the naked girl and her magnificent beast. There was no threat or warning coming from the monster men, their scaly reptilian muscles glistening in the afternoon sun. Only hisses of a long forgotten inhuman language. With a great roar, Leo savagely pounced upon one of the surfacing lizard creatures, as Autumn swung her huge greatsword to meet the bold challenge of a pouncing saurian.
