I'm pleased to announce that PART 2 of the Lockdown Mission will be ready for tonight. However, the subtitles may not be ready, as the company I use to make them can sometimes take longer than expected. I'm guessing that most of you would still like to see the video regardless, so I'll post it here at 9pm BST and hopefully by then the subtitles will be done. At nearly 28 minutes long the video won't disappoint! See you at 9!

Tom, I’m sure you could crowdsource the subtitles. We all are stuck at home with nowt to do (at least I speak for myself) 😀

Good point Louis. Although I'd like everyone to be able to enjoy the subs straight away ideally. I've never actually crowd-sourced subs before, what would stop people from overwriting correct ones with incorrect ones?

Essentially it works by your viewers submitting it (whether it be subtitles, video title/description in another language etc) and then you can publish what they’ve done, edit it or even reject it. So essentially a troll wouldn’t be able to come along and change the subtitles to something horrific- although if you don’t know any foreign languages it would be difficult to check what they’ve written, you would at least get the English subtitles out of it :)

I guess the latter point is pretty important, what good are community subs if Tom cannot tell if they are genuine or trolling... you could reverse-translate every single one with google translate just to see if it vaguely correlates with the content but that sounds laborious.

I've had to do YouTube subtitles for work. It takes me a day to do 10 mins (I'm not an expert). Any reason you don't do them yourself?

Then that raises the point, could we get a (trusted) subscriber to reverse-translate the foreign subtitles. With all this time we have on out hands there’s gonna be someone out there that would do it. All in all it’s probably too long-winded a job

Well yeah now that we talk about it seems long winded, but I don’t know how many languages are subtitled - if, like a lot, it’s just english, then one of us could do that really easily and Tom just approves it, might save him a few quid

I did them myself for the mission across Wales and it's just tedious. It takes me about 5 hours to do a half hour video and the website I use it quite cheap so it's a no brainer for me! It's not so bad if there's minimal speech but I tend to jabber on a lot in these vids!
