In a two part interview, (hour long in total) I talked with host Sam Harris (who is actually my second cousin) about my past, the importance of adventure, leaving your comfort zone, and mental illness. The sound quality wasn't perfect because we had to operate via a zoom call.. Find my just above Zac and Jay!

Growth Mindset Podcast

A growth mindset is the belief that you can do anything if you work for it. Your host Sam Harris finds remarkable individuals doing extraordinary things and breaks the processes down to show how anyone can achieve anything. Sam has launched several businesses, travelled the world, and nearly died a few times, all in the spirit of curiosity and adventure.

Great listen, and great message i was in a very similar position to what you described in my late teens early 20s, totally agree with what you said about negative thoughts being kind of self fulfilling they lead to negative emotions and actions and it becomes a kind of vicious cycle, changing the way you think and surrounding yourself with the right people is the way out

Frank

Really interesting stuff! Cool to hear the back story behind the channel too.

Fellow perfectionist here, also a teacher which is not always a good combo and resulted in me burning out at the end of last year along side a diagnosis of GAD. After seeking help I'm much better now and have reignited my lust for adventure! Your great content has also helped me though some tough times and late nights marking! I'm hoping to walk all 6 paths up Snowdon this summer and start up my blog again from a few years back (https://intoopenwater.wordpress.com/). I'm also going to do and film a mini straight line mission through Sanders park in Bromsgrove once the nettles calm down! Look after yourself, don't work yourself in to the ground with the MAW editing.

Not Sam Harris the neuroscientist – this is a different Sam Harris (assuming that thought was the source of your wut).

That's great news George. Good to hear you're keen to get out there and do some adventures. Yeah you might want to wait till winter till you try the straight line mission, and careful on those Snowdon trails. Might want to do those in the summer, they can be gnarly some of them!

Cheers Shaun! I'm no psychologist but hopefully what I said made some sort of sense!

Hey Tom, would love to hear more of your back-story, before the YouTube days, and how you found direction to do what you're doing. You touched on it some in the podcast, would love to hear more about it! Cheers!

Superb open natural chat mate. Love it! Just love what you do Tom, been sharing it with all my friends and family. Something very raw a real about it all. I find a lot of escapism in your work, which really helps my mind. I've been dealing with a few issues surrounding my mental health and I find that your videos are a time for me to be able to chill out. P.s canny wait to download the 8/16 bit retro tunes from your missions. Josh 👕👍

What is the name of your brother's punk band? Seemed to be edited out, or was that on purpose?
