So...in the maelstrom of trying to finish this very strange horror movie of Albert's, and trying to find new and desperate ways to pay rent as a local theater helper...I decided to have Albert take on one of the most inscrutable foundational books of global wisdom, the Tao Te Ching, all 81 chapters, because why not? Why not just bury myself among the mountains and valleys of obfuscation and slowly let homelessness happen? All single men over the age of 40 experience homelessness at least once (probably).

On the other hand, Albert has had some fun with Zen in the past, and this is one of the big pillars. And even though I only made it to Chapter 2 so far, it's fun to do a project where Albert tries to really think. I always found those kinds of audio relaxing, where it isn't scripted, but it's not just fluffy chat. Like old Alan Watts recordings, one of the great voices of Zen things. If you're unfamiliar, he pops up on YouTube a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z7OUYy285w

And only 79 chapters to go! To be fair, some of the "chapters" are just a handful of sentences, but that's even better for Albert to chew on. I'm thinking his explanations are going to get weirder and weirder as the book goes on, but hey, what are Albert audiobooks for, if not to end in maximum weirdness and regret and ineffable self-improvement?
