Hey there.  I usually don't do wordy posts like this, but the basket is getting too full not to share, especially with you lovely folks...

So these last couple of months, I've given up my address and gone full nomad - it's really the only way I could afford to travel and visit folks and roam the planet searching for a future creative collaboration (or two, or three, or fifteen), hoping for setting up new movie and theater projects...but living out of a suitcase is turning into a project all its own, all the highs and lows of trying to travel on scraps of $.  The hell hostels and the things they do to your health (think Brando in Apocalypse Now), or making it to the top of a (dormant and gorgeous) volcano.  It began to feel like maybe THIS was the thing, Albert turns into a wandering peasant and accidentally becomes a travel writer...?  And I'm sure that will emerge somehow (been taking too many notes) once I'm back to being a regular residential person (?) in February...

But then our good pal Glug sent me the above video...and I just sat there stunned.  That's definitely Jim Henson doing the singing - so he would have done the mouth movements, and then a whole other Muppeteer for the two arms...and all the rehearsal they had to do, synching up hands with face, even pouring liquids "blind"...and that cute little set with all the chemistry equip bits...not to mention that it's a song by Jim Croce, who has his own tragic story.  Ever see something like that and feel a little ashamed?  That's where the paths really cross with Albert, something about forever having unrequited project wishes.  I dunno, it's hard to type it honestly, I think I can get it across better with a Snoopy...

I always wondered, why do certain filmmakers just stop making movies at a certain point...and then some keep going until they drop? - and maybe the answer to that question is somewhere in this big temporary chunk of crazy nomad life.  A few of the recent projects (like Demon Doll Diaries and Burn the Kermit) were also going to be movie projects, but...movies need collaboration to reach their full potential, and who has time to jump in and start making movies?  People already have jobs, families, important things like that...

Anyway, I suppose this isn't really any breaking news yet.  Just wanted to let you special folks in on what's happening behind the curtain these days.  I have a vague feeling that it's heading toward some big unexpected projects - but the ones that take 6-12 months each, you have to be sure, it has to be something you can't stand existing with it not existing, if you know what I mean...

Anyways - might be a month or two before it gets sorted, I'm still far from home and the final plane ticket back I set at a non-refundable date in January, so I wouldn't get tempted to hit the panic button and return to safety as soon as things got rough.  Really hope this didn't sound all too self-absorbed, there's so much horror going on in the world, I realize that this is a penny down a well in some quiet field somewhere.  But if anyone found this interesting, it was for you.  :)  Meanwhile though, the Sundays will always have something new, I brought my recorder with me & I also have lots recorded from the weeks right before I went nomad, I can work on the music and editing across various hostels.  And no worries, I got better at choosing friendly ones.  :)

Meanwhile, also in the world of Muppets...according to the great Frank Oz, Albert is mostly correct in his Disney-suspicions.  Dispishions?  Suspishneys?  Sorry, hostel air making me loopy again...

Cheers everyone & hope all is well on your side, thanks for being here, Tristan

“recognize the ‘some-thing-ness’ of life enough that you might love and enjoy it.. but also recognize It’s ‘no-thing-ness’ enough that you do not take it too seriously.” Nomadic or not you’ll always have a home in our hearts Tristan 🍻

Enjoy your time on the road. This last summer I faced my anxiety and finally took off for several months and actually moved to a new town. This video mixed with your message. It's all very touching. Time is all we got, best not to throw it away.
