Boo Thanksgiving pg1 (Patreon)

In my colorizing of these old boo Classics, I misremembered this as a Thanksgiving story, however it’s actually Kwanzaa but the gist is still the same. Boo’s dinner companion in this story, Bobbee, was based on a young man I met back in the 90’s at the annual Los Angeles black gay pride event called “At The Beach”. Back then, in the dark ages, as noted, it was a big event that was held at the very secluded Zuma Beach in Malibu and at the time was one of the few events black lgbtq etc folks could party/celebrate in broad daylight in privacy without fear of homophobic repercussions. Anyway, this particular year, before the event became too commercialized, crowded, and, yes, ghetto, the attendees were gorgeous. We take for granted today that there are attractive black men to seen at our finger tips. Back then, seeing such a large number of stunning men of all shapes, sizes and complexions in one setting was not an everyday occurrence. And one of the most attractive men that day was the inspiration for the Bobbee in this story (Bobbee was his name in real life too). All eyes were on him at the beach that day so of course I had to meet him. I’m normally shy but can be extroverted when motivated. I found out Bobbee was a hair stylist from Detroit and was a genuinely sweet, down to earth person. He made such an impression on me that I knew I’d put him in my next Boo comic that was due for GBM magazine and I had Boo do to him what I’m sure most of the folks on the beach that day wanted to do to Bobbee that warm sunny day at the beach back in the late 90’s.
