Really cool free tutorial by Brent LeBlanc on how to create your own leaf textures using just Photos and Photoshop. While he ends up using Arnold to shade the leafs in Maya the workflow is very similar to Redshift and you can just base the Redshift shading networks around my Redshift Leaf tutorial. The techniques he uses to create the diffuse, specular, alpha maps though with Photoshop and a photo are perfect for any render engine.

I was actually planning on covering this workflow eventually but he covered it so well I think its worth sharing with you guys his tutorial. So pick up a camera and make your own custom leaf shaders if you need specific local plants. Enjoy!

Leaf Material from Photography

In this viewer requested tutorial I go over how to create your own material channel passes from photography without the need of buying scans or textures online. I go through each channel pass and how to compose it all together in Maya using Arnold 5.
