Billy Butcher

A fun and incredibly strange trivia about this film is the movie and the book that's it's based on takes place in the 1980's in a title little town along the border in Texas. The story is that you had this sleepy little town that is suddenly shocked by the outbreak of cartel violence and Anton is this guy that works for one of these drug lords. So in the book No Country For Old Men the sheriff character who is played by Tommy Lee Jones in the film when explaining how bad things of got says " recently in San Antonio a federal judge was taken out. " He's referencing a real thing that happened in 1979 by a cartel hitman which triggered one of the largest investigations in history and they eventually got him. The hitman? None other than Charles V Harrelson AKA Woodie Harrelson's real life father. Therefore in the film Woodie gets killed by a character based on his very own dad. He only found this out after filming.

Chase Schleich

Hitchhiking was FAR more dangerous in 1980 than today. That was the time of the serial killer. Today we get mass shooters. Back then, it was serial killers. We don't have as many serial killers today because it's harder to get away with it for an extended period. Too many cameras, DNA, better forensics.
