Omg I am gonna cry. Thank you so much for giving us this today in such a busy time.

Anaïs

Thank you so much for the quick upload guys !

Kiki Varas

Great reaction! This is very random but I was wondering if you guys would possibly react to a heated rivalry interview? I remember you reacting to some supernatural bloopers after the season ended. So I thought if you guys had the time, to react to a heated rivalry interview for fun. Completely fine if you don’t, I understand maybe not wanting to react and just watching privately. 💕 Either way I think your reaction was amazing and loved seeing your opinions and thoughts. Love you guys! The Director of this Heated Rivalry said he wanted to show queer joy in this. 💕

Aaron S.

can't wait to dig into this. already watched the ep a couple of times but it's always better having you two to break the tension a bit. thank you for the tight upload schedule - the holidays are always stressful as fuck so i appreciate having this reprieve. mwah

Samantha

I appreciate you guys watching this show!! I hope other reactors follow your example. I am so happy you guys made time to watch and post so quickly too. ❤️

Aaron S.

very parasocial but i'm hugging you through the screen, greg. thank you guys for an incredibly thoughtful and emphatic (and charming!!!) reaction, watching alongside you was a joy. and speaking as a queer man, i really appreciate both the show for its themes and unapologetic performances as well as the loving response to it by you guys.

Christian Seibold

Loved this reaction, and really appreciate the way you guys opened up and talked about how the show impacted you after the episode :) I agree that the show is simultaneously impactful for everyone and very impactful for gay and LGBTQ+ people as well. I love that you brought up, Greg, that some gay people can't even say that they're gay, even when people might know it. This is a very common experience, and after I came out to my immediate family while in University, I also wasn't able to say that I was gay for a few years. It took a lot of time, and self-acceptance isn't an immediate switch, it's more gradual. You gradually accept yourself more and more over time, but throughout you still have the doubts and moments of despair or self-hatred that pops back up. And even if you have an accepting family, a lot of LGBTQ+ people still end up internalizing the stereotypes or negative things that are thrown around in society (even if they aren't dominant in society). We might have gained a lot of traction with LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance in mainstream, but there's still this lingering effect that we have to wrestle with. Anyways, I loved the reactions, and really appreciate y'all getting these out so quickly! I hope it wasn't too exhausting and you were still able to find time for the holidays! Happy New Years! P.S. For suggestions, would be cool to see you react to Fellow Travelers, and some Terrence Malick films (like The Tree of Life or Days of Heaven)!

Oh John and Greg 🫶🏽 we always appreciate you wearing your hearts on your sleeves! As a neurodivergent Asian, Heated Rivalry shows that representation matters to so many different communities. After a rough year, this show has lifted me more than expected and brought so much joy. Thank you for reacting to this and your commentary has been great!

j-l (she/they)

so excited to watch this. you guys’ reactions to this have been my favorite, they feel like a warm hug. thank you for being so open and letting yourselves feel, it’s beautiful❤️

j-l (she/they)

that would be so fun!! they’re so funny and watching how different to their characters they are irl makes you appreciate their acting even more

j-l (she/they)

second this as a queer woman. there’s something really comforting about straight men embracing a queer story like this🫶🏻

Trent Tellier

This was such a lovely treat tysm I cried along with yall

William Jones

Just want to say that I love you guys!

you will probably get fewer comments on this episode than previous ones, mainly because it was so much calmer, and so much smoother than the previous ones. I just want to say that I really appreciated your reaction. I particularly appreciated how you somehow, miraculously, manage to both comment on camera work, lighting etc while still not missing any of the action! well done on that, really! and yes, I agree that the episode was a great bookend for the series, and offered wonderful and much needed contrast to the early episodes. from a book fan's perspective, it was pretty much perfect. in my head, I expected it to end about half a chapter later into the book (about an hour later in book world time), so I think Jacob pretty much nailed it. it gave us all the quotes we needed, pretty much all the visuals (in the book, there's a pier and a sex scene on the pier which is used as an opportunity for them to discuss that they would love to be able to be free outside, not just behind closed doors - but that's kinda obvious, and also potential public indecency, so... :D), and certainly the mood we expected. 10/10, no notes. some of us are joking that we want to move to Canada, so that part of our tax dollars go into the development of S02 (apparently a thing Canada does). once again, thanks for crying! you made us feel seen <3

Ana Karen

Thank you Greg for listening to Olivia. I really enjoyed watching you guys reacting to this show that we are all so obsessed with.. need another successful popular recommendation show there always Bridgerton lol when yall saw wicked yall didnt went hey there’s Bridgerton guy it made me think yall haven’t seen it so there you go Thank you again for this reaction

Thanks guys

Thank you so much for appreciating how much love and care went into this show. Every shot and line and sequence was so meticulousy planned out and so much of it is lost on people. This is one of the best shot shows I've seen in a very long time and it was so nice to see you both be so vulnerable and thoughtful throughout. If anyone else on the team wants to react to this show, I would be foaming at the mouth!!!

Fear of Reactions

Please watch Interview With the Vampire (TV Series). Its only 2 seasons so far with 15 episodes in total. it is gay as well but very different from Heated Rivalry. I love them both. Acting, writing, etc... Please give it a try. Requested Host Greg and John

Julie

100% agree with this rec!

Fear of Reactions

Can we get Tara and Roxy's reaction to Heated Rivalry?

Christian Seibold

I honestly kinda want Andrew too. I love Andrew's reactions to these types of shows/movies (tiny crush, don’t judge me). Maybe Tara, Andrew, and Roxy can do it together? :D

Christian Seibold

I was thinking, for other suggestions of gay media, perhaps for Pride month next year or whenever, here's a couple of suggestions: Moonlight, Fellow Travelers (it's a limited series), Interview With a Vampire, God's Own Country, The History of Sound (one of my all-time favorite movies ever), All of Us Strangers (has Andrew Scott, btw), Bros, Homebound, The Chronology of Water. And Pillion is a gay rom-com drama coming out next year, too.

zenscience

I love the 'slice of life' feel it had, very sweet episode!

zenscience

I have been so obsessed with this show, I started watching many channels that discuss it. One that I would like to recommend is Empty Netters. They are hockey players and their reaction/reviews are great.

janeelmonae

Love u guys for this. But I was hoping u would listen more. It felt like u talked over a lot of good stuff.

a.

okay but when are we gonna get one for the girlies, i’d love to see roxy and tara cover this 😭 i’ve watched these more than once… perhaps more than twice lol you guys are awesome

Chris

I am late to this and I'm very sorry that I am. I now really wish I had watched the earliest group of people who watched this show instead of deciding to go back and watch later. It seems like the earlier people are the better ones, and you two are most definitely in that better category. I mean, I did skim through to certain parts on the Youtube clips, but didn't sit down to watch all of them, much less to sit down for the watch alongs. I loved your reactions to certain parts, like the end of #5, but I missed out on a bunch of other stuff you said. While I love how you caught on to so much of what the show was giving us, including lots of stuff most others don't, I loved that fact that you were just as excited about the production values as you were the story or acting. I knew it was special the first time I watched it, and knew it looked great, but I didn't notice several things you pointed out, and I wish I had. None of us can catch everything in this show the first time we see it, but you certainly saw lots of details that didn't cross my mind at first. I don't feel the need to say any more about the show, since you have obviously seen all the comments about subtext and every little detail people miss - and that some people seem to expect even new viewers to somehow notice. I just wanted to say that you two did an amazing job on top of just having very good human reactions to the usual stuff. It's fine watching someone who just likes the show for what it is, but I really like it when people aren't too limited in what they see or say. Great job. I will definitely be putting you at the top of the list to watch first next year. Great job.

The first Heated Rivalry related reaction video I ever came across was y'alls reaction to the end of Episode 5. It was such a breath of fresh air and validationg to watch you cry along with what I regard as the perfect ending to a perfect episode of television. Somehow it never occured to me back then that you had an entire reaction video series to the whole show! I am so glad all these months later I re-discovered your content, and I joined your Patreon specifically to watch your reactions to this series. I am in the film industry, and am obsessed with the lighting and camera work in this show and how it moves the plot....I knew within the first 5 minutes of watching your reaction video to Episode 1 that y'all picked up on and appreciated the cinematography as much as I did! I was hooked from then on. "Re-Heating" these episodes along with y'all has been an absolute pleasure....its as close as I have been able to come to experiencing my favorite show again for the first time. Your emotional vunerability, analysis of the themes/color/lighting/shots and investment in the story was more than I could have hoped for. John, sharing your heartfelt emotions at the end of the series was super relatable to me. Greg, your raw reactions througout the series and viewpoint as someone who is half-Asian (like Shane) was enlighting. Thank you so much, Greg and John! I can't wait to follow along with your reactions to Season 2 next year :)
