Worst of the franchise. Made us sad.

Are yall putting Harry Potter today?

It felt too similar to X-Men: The Last Stand, which also attempted to adapt The Dark Phoenix Saga. The film was somber and joyless, lacking the energy of previous entries. Despite some cool action sequences, the script felt average and didn't fully utilize its talented cast. Sophie Turner's portrayal of Jean Grey IS THE highlight because she brought this magestic energy. And Han Zimmer's score is fire! The film would become a major box-office bomb, losing an estimated $133 million after marketing and distribution costs. Director Simon Kinberg later took personal responsibility for the film's failure to connect with audiences.

DEFINITELY overhated. It actually had a coherent storyline, some harrowing plot turns and incorporated its ensemble well. The major drawback was the villain of course... and the fact that it differs from the comic Phoenix storyline greatly.

I was refreshing all day, double checked the schedule. But understand if things have to get pushed. HP is my favorite series and I would bet I’m the most watcher on YouTube lmao

This was not as bad as advertised. I'd put this above X3 for one reason: the actual Phoenix Force instead of a split personality. Sophie Turner put in a magnificent performance, and we had some really great character development scenes (Hank and Charles for example). Their teamwork was fantastic and it was believable that Charles let success go to his head. Cyclops and Storm finally got to excel in battle- great scenes for each of them. I hated to see Mystique die, but since the actress herself requested to leave the series, it had to happen. The X-Men divided over Jean was great- Magneto and Beast (plus those two losers from his island) against Charles, Scott, Storm and Nightcrawler for Jean's life was amazing. Worst part was the D'Bari as villains. In the comics Jean as Dark Phoenix destroyed their world by eating their sun. She then destroyed the Shi'ar warships who came to stop her rampage. We never knew anything about the D'Bari- they got fridged to bring the Shi'ar into the fray. In the comics we got Lilandra sentencing Jean to death. and an awesome showdown with the Imperial Guard (in the famous X-Men #137). Here we got Jessica Chastain mailing it in as the lead D'Bari using two expressions: bored monotone and extremely dull monotone. We never were told exactly what powers she or the other D'Bari had- we just knew that she had the ability to take the Phoenix Force away from Jean and that she intended to use it to kill everyone on Earth and I suppose remake Earth as a new D'Bari for those 20 or so survivors. Other gripes of mine were predictable dialogue in spots and Quicksilver vanishing from the movie after Jean dropped him on his ass during the fight. Guess they couldn't find a scene for him to run through a house or a room and do a lot of amazing things in slow motion this time around.

Are we doing New Mutants to end the Fox X-run or letting this be the swansong?

Sadly the rebooted MCU X-Men won't do a Dark Phoenix story. We got 2 Dark Phoenix movies in a short time. I just can't see Disney wanting to do it for a 3rd time, at least not in the next 20 years. Maybe we'll get really lucky and Sadie Sink will pull a Hugh Jackman and play Jean Grey for 20 years and she'll get to end her run with the best Dark Phoenix adaptation we've ever gotten. Let us get attached to her for 2 decades and then the story will truly mean something. That would be pretty cool, but I don't see it happening.

Yeah, it’s better than I thought too. There’s definitely more team dynamics that I see makes Coy’s argument that it’s slightly better than The Wolverine. Overall, it’s not the worst X-Men movie I’m gonna leave that to X-Men origins Wolverine
