two pennies no waiting

Having watched this series a number of times, I think the previous episodes only chip away at the sense of purpose the men initially enlisted with, but these two episodes really strip that purpose away. Do you think this tonal shift is best portrayed by highlighting the two calmest characters or moreso the continuing struggles of war for the company faces as a whole?

BoB 1x05-06: BoB is a profound depiction of the mass trauma of combat, the brutality of basic survival and the psychological toll of the "fog of war". However, the show also attempts to find instances of true human connection, as we see w/ the civilian nurse. Q?: How does the writing of the show balance depictions of violence with these quieter touches of humanity?

Doug Allen plays Alton More in BoB. He and my grandpa were friends in Wyoming before the war. I grew up hearing all about Alton and his brother from my grandpa as a kid. Alton's older brother died along with Dorie Miller (the cook who earned a Medal of Honor at Pearl Harbor) in November '43 when their ship went down in the Pacific.

There's other interesting stuff. Like what really happened to Albert Blithe from episode 3. and what one of the survivors said about a specific moment in episode 2. I think I've watched over 50 hours of interviews with survivors and cast members from the show. For the last episode, I'll mention the episode 2 moment. I don't wanna risk spoiling anything.
