Wow. The last 4 episodes in one go. You guys really wanted to give yourselves deep depression for six months, didn't you?

Someone at the end of the reaction asked if toning down the atrocities was the right approach. Reading the accounts of the various concentration/death camps in Europe along with the absolute horrors Japan conducted including Unit 731 (Unit 731 being the most depraved, vile, inhumane example of large-scale human experimentation in modern human history), leaves me with the impression the people doing these atrocities aren't human beings. If this series portrayed a more accurate approach to the atrocities of the Axis powers, it may have taken the viewer out of the episode and the storytelling. The inhumanity to humans that took place during that war is very difficult for our modern mind to wrap their head around.

One thing younger generations don't understand was that there wasn't PTSD that wasn't a thing. Back in the world Vets got looked down upon or even put in institutions because they were suffering from this. And PTSD is not that new. I got out in 96 and it was still wasn't a thing till a few years later. These folks had to put it behind them and try to deal w/ the world and most did and did it well. My great uncle he was a medic in WW2 and all I knew of his was he sat out in his backyard and stared at nothing most of the day just smoking his cigarette and having a drink here and there. He never talked about it at all. My grandfather never talked about it either. I think that's how they dealt w/ it. They just tried to keep it pushed or bottled down and tried to just focus on their current lives. They never got help they deserved.

One of the bits of trivia I found interesting was that Joseph Liebgott wasn't Jewish. He was Roman Catholic. Everyone just assumed he was Jewish because of his name, and because his parents were from Austria, and the accent when speaking German sounded a lot like Yiddish. His wrath towards the Nazis was, by all accounts, absolutely accurately depicted.

I think since the scope of what they depicted was limited to what Easy Company went through, and the camp they found was that relatively tiny satellite camp of the Kaufering complex near Landsberg, they were limited in what they could show.

Hey John and Andrew, you may be interested in We Stand Alone Together: The Men Of Easy Compamy. It's a companion documentary from the real men who were there. I also suggest that at some point, you watch The Pacific also from Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg

Wakandan King D

Def gotta check out the We Stand Alone Together Doc it’s basically the unofficial 11th episode of the show and the real soldiers tell their story
