Had so much fun watching this season with you! It's been a while since I watched it fully again 😊 my fave season. And yes I loved that it grew with them. So to answer your question about what took so long and all that, so after s3 aired, Netflix being the morons they are took almost a year to decide if they were going to give them a s4 or not and then finally decided to do a movie (which hey I'm glad they did instead of cancelling it but still 😒). The author is also the screenwriter so she only wanted 4 seasons anyways as it follows along with the books, the last book just came out last week and that's what the movie will be about. I'm so damn sad to see it end but I'm so happy it exists, this show really helped me finally accept my bisexuality and it's so near and dear to my heart. I see so much of myself in so many characters and the representation they have in this show is amazing and needed

so excited to watch this!! ive been waiting for this seasons reaction its so good made me cry many times its a lot deeper than the past two but doesnt feel disconnected everything that happens has been building up to it. Sad that this will end in a movie not another season but i have hope that itll be good

So they always wanted 4 seasons to tell the full story, but after season 3 Netflix didn't sign on right away sighting "lower numbers" for season 3. Alice (the creator); Joe Locke and Kit Connor say that wasn't really true. They went into negotiations with Netflix for 6 months; Joe & Kit started their own production companies and became vested exec. producers to fund a consolation movie to finish it. Filming/production turnaround time for each season was about a year; the movie filmed last June/July and wrapped post production in April. Also, Alice wanted the final book to come out in advance of the movie - which just happen last week.
