I felt like I'd skipped an episode or something when we went back to the school! It was very quick. Felt like they wanted some sort of "rounding off" for the finale so it was rushed. I thought that the bit with Midoriya was adorable. The jump he made, so similar to the one in the entrance exam which caused him to break his legs, is now something he can do easily. He saves his arms using blackwhip instead of punching. And although All Might is going "he doesn't need me anymore, he doesn't look back" etc., as soon as Midoriya has finished, he turns to All Might looking for his approval!. Aaaaw! Can't wait for Season 6. The Manga's a long way ahead (enough that I haven't caught up yet), but so far, it's epic!

I think the reason it felt so dramatic a change was that the anime swapped the arcs' order. Since originally the endeavor arc came after the my villain academia arc, this was a smooth continuation of the student activity.

Ah, right. That makes sense. I've gone back to the beginning to read the manga so I'm even more lost in time! But it's clear they made an absolutely beautiful adaptation (aside from this arc switching which seems to be to the story's detriment). That sports festival match between Midoriya and Shoto - when Shoto finally lets his flames free - still makes me cry 😥💔😊!

The movie is completely different lol. Yes they remixed the arcs because of the movie but that fucked over the arcs and made them more confusing. They had to shove another movie out to make more money and they decided to change the arcs of endeavor agency and my villain academia to fit the timeline of where they placed the movie in the timeline. Basically meaning if you didn't see the endeavor agency you wouldn't know where they placed the movie in the timeline even though it isn't technically ever going to be brought into the main series. The ending for this episode was actually how it went in the manga. We skipped an entire portion of months and we are heading right into the war. I won't spoil anything but this is how the war arc started by skipping a bunch of months and automatically showing them start the battle between the villains and the heroes. The ending probably felt even more off because of how mixed up the timeline was because of them switching arcs. The endeavor agency arc was supposed to be the final arc and lead into this episode which was supposed to tease the start of the war.

Also did you guys watch the 2nd movie already? The 2nd movie takes place in season 5 and it has been out for quite a while. The new movie is the 3rd movie and compared to a lot of other anime movies MHA tends to come out fairly quickly. Especially in other countries like the US since the US has MHA as its number 1 anime and manga from Japan. The manga dominates the charts of the top selling books in the US. I think it was around 6-8 months after the theater release that the full release came out available for everyone for the 1st and 2nd movie.

One more thing is these recent arcs definitely pushed away Deku in comparison to everything else and some people were fine with it but a lot of them weren't when these arcs came out in the manga. The author clearly wants to not try and focus so much on just a select few characters and just Deku himself. Plenty of people weren't exactly too fond with that change and it made Deku seem a lot less interesting and took away the spotlight from him a lot. I loved how much endeavor and the villains and even class B characters got so much time and had more to them to make you care for them but at the end of the day people got into the series for Deku himself. That was a big problem I had with the manga for a while around this time. It felt like Deku was just a side character instead of the main character and even his screen time felt different compared to back in the beginning of the series cause he felt a little bland at certain points since the author was so into getting all of these side characters more focus and characterization that ended up more so taking away his focus on making Deku important and giving him characterization that you like to see. We will definitely be getting back to having Deku as an actual main character in the next season and onward after that up to the most recent chapters of the manga. The villain academia arc was supposed to be better than it was and it gave an entire arc dedicated to just the villains but it was rushed and they cut things out in the anime. The villain arc was great but they didn't do it justice in the anime. So this season was quite a letdown in comparison to the other seasons but if the anime can do the next season properly we will be getting back to where we should be with more Deku focus and him acting like a proper MC and pay off for all of the build up from this season. These 3 arcs in this season are all just build up for the war. The author wanted to show off class B and shinso (purple hair) and open up the plot line for the new quirks and the vestiges of one for all. Villain academia was to get you to care about the villains and see them grow physically and mentally. Also to show the thousands of people in the society that don't agree with how things are going and how society has impacted a lot of people and even make villains who they are. Endeavor agency was the full on build up for the war since it had so much focus with hawks and the liberation front and endeavor needing to prepare the students for the war. The villains in the endeavor agency arc were used to specifically foreshadow the upcoming war and how things will be going down. Just overall this season was a build up to the next upcoming arcs of MHA.

It's possible that this season works a lot better for people who haven't read the manga. At the time, I hadn't and was thoroughly gripped by the season. People who don't know the original don't know about any chopping and changing and for the most part, it works pretty well. It was clear that it was an arc concentrating on the villains (being called "my villain academia"), so it was okay for Deku and co to be temporarily on hold. (Actually, I still haven't read it through - I was dipping in and out, but then I decided to go back to the beginning so as to stop getting confused, so this information is all very interesting) But like you say, I am here for Deku (and Bakugo and Shoto), and him as my main protagonist. I rage quit another manga where I found out that the main protagonist was switched out, so I would be furious if that happened here.

Hi Kryptonyte. I’m catching up on the Manga and have noticed that some scenes / entire episodes from the anime were not in the manga at all, eg Froppy’s internship with the Seal guy, Uraraka and Froppy work experience with Ryukyu, Todoroki’s battle with the other school in his licence exam, the encounter with the High IQ girl and her entourage in the licence exam. Were these completely made up for the anime or are they in some side issue or something?

Toasted Toad

Hi Nick - I’m not sure if you or Kryotonite get notifications of extra comments, but if ou should happen to know the answer about the question I addressed to Kryotonite below (about incidents not in the manga) it would be great to hear from you.

Read the manga to this point and the timeline makes so much more sense! I couldn’t figure out how Hawks knew what he did when he gave Endeavour that message.

Personally I don't watch for Deku at all. He's one of the characters I'm actually least interested in. If they only focus on him I wouldn't like the series as much as I do now.
