The music soundtrack for this show is amazing!

I'm pretty sure I wrote a long comment here, with some context about short stories the series is based on. Has it been deleted? If so, I would be grateful for some explanation to not waste my time for research in the future...

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! We don't go through and delete comments here (and wouldn't unless it's some kind of situation where people are getting rowdy, disrespectful, etc). I do, however, see people periodically comment saying that their original post didn't go up/was deleted. To the best of my knowledge, this is some sort of glitch with Patreon, so to be safe in future, maybe copy/paste to a notepad before hitting send? REALLY sorry about that!! Would've LOVED to read what you had to say on this one!

Thanks for clarifying. I'll try to recreate my thoughts then. The important thing to know is that although Yennefer and Ciri are important characters to the whole plot of the Witcher books, they're not very prominent in the short stories, which the 1st season is based on. That's because those stories are told exclusively from Geralt's point of view. The show writers had to add some things to have 3 full-fledged storylines. So all scenes with Yen and Ciri are either inferred from some dialogues, context clues and flashbacks or just made up by the show writers. For example, in the books we learn about Yennefer's suicide attempt much, much later, as a flashback. The rest of the Aretuza (school of magic) events, like the eels, is not present in Sapkowski's books at all. The part with the sylvan (horny fellow) is however based on "The Edge of the World" story and it unfolds pretty similarly. Big parts of the encounter with elves have been cut out but important exposition has been moved to Yen/Istredd conversation. In Ciri's storyline, the small guy stabbing the racist lady is a gnome. I don't think the show makes it clear, so let's just make it a small piece of additional context. All non-human races, not only elves, are basically treated like shit, though some are more assimilated than others. There are some pretty obvious real world parallels here but we'll get back to that. Regarding Jaskier's name, in Polish we pronounce "J" as English "Y". So Jaskier is pronounced "Yaskier" (with "e' as in "bed"). And, in similar manner, my name is pronounced "Yann". Also, you shouldn't think too hard on things like "period" appropriate terms, eg. "abortion". The Witcher books are very postmodern and often use words and associations not suited for quasi-medieval times. That's it for now. Let me know if you'd like to have similar context for future episodes od would you prefer to take the show completely blind, without the comparison to the books.
