I've watched my fair share of anime but have never watched a full episode of One Piece. Now seems like as good of time as any. Let's go!

Hispanic isn’t a race. Most Hispanics are just bi-racial. Mexicans = native Americans (Aztec) and white (Spaniard) the kid actor is Colombian. Basically those two things native and spanish and also African. 🤦🏽‍♂️ I’m darker then the kid and I’m Puerto Rican Hispanics come in all colors on the west side we aren’t all Mexican

Never watched one piece but wow, this was a great first episode. Extremely fun, the action is great, the characters are amazing so far, and the story is engaging.

I'm a one piece anime fan this live action series looks fun the first episode was a surprise everything made for the show is great and the cast looks amazing. I have only seen the first episode for Netflix live action one piece

One Piece, alongside Naruto and Bleach, became as popular as they were for a reason. Though there is a significant difference in execution between them, they built upon the shounen archetypes that had been slowly codified before them, from Fist of the North Star, to Saint Seiya, to Dragon Ball, to Yu Yu Hakusho, then HunterXHunter and finally these anime that became known as "The Big Three." Personal tastes aside, no one can deny the impact they had on the anime/manga industry and how those stories were written. The most popular anime since then have either followed in their footsteps, or evolved from them in specific ways, And One Piece especially has long been lauded as the best of them. The show is great so far, it matches the intended tone of the original work, but has adapted it just enough that the cartoony nature isn't a hindrance to the live action format. Not too realistic, and not too fantastical, but a great middleground. And the cast is just fantastic.

Fuuny seeing greg pick up on some of Luffys charcteristics right away.

Brilliant first episode! Stays true to the one piece feel and story. Best anime adaptation ever easy. Really pleased with this. Most inpressive thing with one piece in my opinion is the world building.

Oh so you have not either. I was thinking of watching live action but not an anime fan

if you do ever decide to watch the anime, I feel like I have to warn you that the pacing is probably the worst part of the anime. It can drag a looooooooooot, the manga might be a better way to go but is definitely worth it cause One Piece really is great and is at the top for a reason

It's amazing, just for how abridged it is. Condensing like a dozen (or way more, lol, no idea) episodes into one episode seem like the way to go with a show that is feared for its filler content and general runtime. Which is cool too, I love my good old Hikaru no Go binges or Yakitate!! Japan - about the most amazing shows I've watched, somehow. But crisp, short shows are just so much easier to get into, and One Piece is a real slog for anyone with half a life. I still put it on when I'm doing my indoor rides or whatever, but it'll take an assload of chrono, tell you as much.

Speaking of, which I just had a tiny rant about: is there some sort of overview or recap for people who just don't want to engage with 1000+ episodes? I don't want to spoil myself because I will watch it all eventually, but I love DBZ Abridged too and wouldn't mind some re-dub kind of ordeal either. Bleach is the comparison here, some anime pacing is grotesquely atrocious.

There is One Pace which is basically a bunch of fans re-editing the anime so that the pacing isn't so slow and more in line with the manga's pacing. Basically removed all filler scenes and other BS that is really unnecessary.
