if you want some perspective as to why book fans (and the author) hate this. Imagine if the first harry potter film aged Harry up to 17 from the beginning & then deleted Voldemort as a character entirely, then made a 17 year old draco the only villain and that was how they “adapted” the first HP book instead. Thats exactly what happened here.

after all the pushback after this film they tried to rectify it in the second one but they already ruined it so much that the second movie is borderline unwatchable and even more convoluted than this one.

im not going to watch it. I had good expectations for the show, until the author got too political and changed the characters because he wanted more diversity when there was already diversity in it.

ik the poll was just for the first one but now I want to see the reactions to the next one lmao you both are great !

The books are a whole lot better then this movie, please go read them because you miss so much without reading them! This movie totally gets everything wrong. I really am hoping the show that's coming out is better, although with the way things are being adapted by Disney lately I'm not holding my breath. Oh and also fyi the actor in Love and Monsters is Dylan O Brian, not the actor in this movie.

i know a lot of people hate these movies but i personally really enjoy them . they are just fun movies to watch. im also just a big fan of movies so bad that they are good and these are definitely some of them. im curious how different the show is going to be since apparently these movies are completely different from the books.

it’s mostly the book fans who hate the film because of how bad they butchered the story. it wasn’t just a bad adaptation, the entire plot and arc of the whole book series was changed. it’s almost unrecognizable. If i hadn’t read the books first i think id probably enjoy the movie more cus on its own it’s a fun time.

i have faith in the show since the author of the books is writing it. He also seems really happy with it and knowing how devastated he was after this film came out, I have faith. Edit: also reviews are coming in already and book fans are happy

The first two episode seem pretty good so far, definitely more like the book and what I imagined it to look like!
