(Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well and are getting ready for the holiday ahead that is only a few days away now, how did it come about so quick?! Anyway I wanted to a special Christmas piece this year as a gift to you all, a thank you for all of the support you have given me over this year. It has been quite the year indeed and it looks like 2020 will be most exciting for a number of reasons, which I'll discuss in an update soon.
So I commissioned this festive piece of Axel and Adam enjoying a tender kiss under the mistletoe which was done by Blake Alexander Art (check him out on instagram, he's a great up and coming artist) and penned my own short story which you can read below. So without further ado, here's 'A Silent Eve's Night'. God bless and have a great holiday everyone!)
A Silent Eve's Night
By Magnus.L.Alexander
A beautiful quiet had descended across the city of Wood Oak that night, the eventide of Christmas Eve. It was a peaceful stillness that could be felt throughout the vast tracts and regions of the metropolis. From the endless rows of homes and flats in the Gillusberg and Tyriston areas; to the wide boulevards and office blocks of the commercial and finance districts; to the tallest points of the skyscrapers that dominated the Borenheim central district and the city as a whole...the same sense of tranquillity was present everywhere.
For a place often wrecked by high levels of crime and gang violence the calmness that existed now seemed almost otherworldly, ethereal. There was no denying though that for once there was not a sign of trouble anyway out in the city; friends, couples and families were out celebrating among the glittering Christmas lights that shone brightly in the night and there was a genuine feeling of mirth and excitement for the day ahead in the air. It seemed that even the most devilish of hearts had been touched by the spirit of the season that year and no thoughts of violence or ill-will crossed their minds. The rage that had often ruled over the Wood Oak's streets had, for once, been gently subdued by a force greater than it could ever be.
As if to underline what a distinctively special evening this was down from the sky came tiny specks of soft snow. It had been continuously falling for days, covering the city under a rich blanket of white. At no moment though was the snow fall heavily or furious; instead it drifted down at an almost stately place, moving so slowly that one could watch individual flakes as they meandered down along their own paths. Time seemed to almost pause in-between moments, creating brief scenes of breath-taking beauty that lasted but for an instance, gone only to be replaced by another creation of wonder the next second.
It was such beautiful sights that Adam was glazing out at through the wall length window of his living room when he felt a pair of familiar strong arms encircling around his waist and a chin gently resting itself upon his shoulder.
'Enjoying the view outside tonight?' his lover Axel asked, his voice barely above that of a whisper but as clear as a bell within the silence of Adam's apartment.
'Yes. It's gorgeous outside tonight' Adam replied. Slipping his hands over Axel's own he relaxed into his man's embrace. 'It's so peaceful and bright...you would never have imagined it could ever be like this, not with all the troubles going on, not when you've seen it...how it can be.'
'I know' Axel nuzzled the side of his face reassuringly 'It looks like nothing could ever happen out there, not with the streets so merry like it is tonight. Don't think about it now. I doubt there is any trouble out there, not tonight of all days. It seems...it just won't be that kind of night that we need to worry about things.'
'You're right. It is pretty festive and peaceful out there' Adam agreed. Normally he won't hold much conviction in such a statement; after all he was a very pragmatic man who believed more what he could see rather then what he felt. Still there was no denying that there was this...sense, this ambiance that there would be no trouble tonight.
So he let go of such concerns and they fell into a comfortable silence together, watching the beautiful scenes outside and just enjoying each other's company. Dressed in their onesies, Adam in a lush red and Axel in a festive green, they appeared be to be like statues standing so still. Adam's ebony skin almost seemed to glimmer from the bright lights coming in from outside and his square jaw line, cropped black hair and noble features almost seemed like they had been sculpted. Axel, who slightly shorter than his man, was quite different in comparison with his messy blond locks, laddish face and fair skin.
Each man though was quite muscular and well defined in their physiques, the work of years of training and dedication from their careers as police officers before they became vigilantes. Their lives were often fraught with danger and tension as they fought to clean up Wood Oak of the misdeeds and lawless activities of the Syndicate, the criminal organisation responsible for much of the anarchy that often gripped the city. That evening though such troubles seemed like they were a whole other life away as they looked out at the cheerful and bright landscape before them. Being together like this all alone in Adam's apartment with the quiet city outside it felt as though it was just the two of them in the entire world.
Certainly they weren't likely to be disturbed, for their friends and family were out celebrating the season in their own way. Their friends and fellow crime fighters Blaze and Max were out of the city for the holidays, Blaze visiting family in the countryside while Max had taken a vacation to the tropics to escape the chilly weather. Meanwhile Skate, Adam's little brother who he had guardianship over, was staying over at a friend's house across the city for the night and won't be back until the following morning when he would join them for Christmas day.
So it would just the two of them for the evening, a fact that filled Adam with a wonderful, upbeat happiness, one that was compounded by just how much he enjoyed feeling Axel's big, strong arms around him, a sensation that never failed to bring a sense of security and stability with it.
It seemed Axel was thinking the same thing as he broke their silence eventually to ask 'So do you fancy having a movie night in, rewatching a few holiday classics while we have the place to ourselves?'
'That's not a bad idea at all' Adam said with a grin. Turning around and putting his arms around Axel's lower back he pulled in his man so they close, facing one and other. As they had the front of their onesies open they ended up touching skin to skin, not a gap of space between their chests and stomachs. Being so close Adam could feel Axel's strong warmth and the gentle beat of his heart, pulsing right up against his own.
Moving his face downwards Adam nuzzled the side of Axel's cheek and neck, gently laying soft kisses and tender nibbles on his skin. There was a low mmm from Axel as he felt his man's tender attentions, shivers passing down his body at each sensual touch.
'So have we got everything ready for tonight?' Adam asked between the kisses he was planting on the base of his Axel's neck. 'Food?'
'Plenty of Christmas food and leftovers from the party yesterday in the fridge.' The answer came after a moment, Axel's mind distracted as he felt Adam's lips working their way along his neck up towards his face again/
'How about snacks?' Moving upwards, for a moment Adam gently sucked on Axel's ear lobe.
'A whole cupboard bursting full of them' Axel said, trying to hold back the slightest hint of a moan.
'What about movies? What are we watching?' Adam relented from his teasing, not wanting to lead it to lead onto anything a bit more...serious. After all they had had the whole evening to enjoy.
'I was thinking we could rewatch both of our favourites, Back In Time for the Holidays and "Honey, that's my Mr. Claus!" and then see where we go from there' Axel replied, his slightly reddened cheeks the only sign of how excited he had gotten from Adam's kisses.
'Great choices. So, how about some egg nog too?' Adam smiled, know the answer already.
'Disgusting' Axel smirked, not rising to the bait. 'There's a fresh carton of it in the fridge for you though.'
'Excellent. You can't have Christmas without some nog.'
'Are you trying to ruin this moment?' Axel asked in fake indignation.
Grinning Adam stroked his man's cheek with his knuckles, looking right into his eyes. 'Am I really ruining the moment?' he asked, voice barely above that a whisper.
'No, not really' Axel admitted, smiling back. The next moment, without giving away a hint of what he was planning to do, he suddenly reached down and swept Adam off his feet, lifting him up fully into his arms.
The unexpected surprise elicited a whoop and a laugh from Adam's as Axel carried him over to the sofa and deposit him onto it. Barely had the briefest second past before Axel joined him, laying down facing towards Adam and burrowing up against his chest. Reaching over Adam grabbed the throwover that was folded on the top of the sofa and threw it over them, shaking and sorting it out until it had wrapped around their bodies, covering them up together.
Getting comfy the boys slipped their arms around one another and drew in close, feeling their shared warmth and presence. Laying down there in his man's arms as he too held him tight Adam felt only simple contentment. This was perfect. They didn't need anything else for that night. Just the two, together in this moment, was all that truly mattered.
Rubbing the tips of their noses together in a little eskimo kiss Adam whispered. 'Merry Christmas Mr. Stone',
'Merry Christmas Mr. Hunter' Axel smiled and went in for a kiss, tender at first but which soon turned deep and passionate as Adam responded in kind. Time turned into a meaningless thought for as the evening passed by and turned into the holy day itself both of the men only had eyes and thoughts for each other.
... ... ...
Gentle spirit of winter's grace,
In hours that pass ever onwards by,
Bringing repose and hope in it's place
Greeting those that slumber and peacefully lie.
Ever it comes into the hearts of all,
Quelling dissent and trouble with a soothing hand.
Nay, no one would, or could, resist it's call,
Let harmony be the rule of the land.
And so for this wondrous Christmas Eve Night
And the Holy Day that will cometh in the morning,
Let there be naught but peace.
