In the start of a mini series of reviews I'll be looking back at the comic works of the legendary artist Oliver Frey who, over a few decades under the pseudonym 'Zack', created a small selection of hardcore gay erotic comics that to this day remain personal favourites of mine. To begin we will be looking at one of his most well known comics, Bike Boy.

This lustful tale follows a fresh faced young blonde on his eighteenth birthday as he gets a thorough education in the art of man-on-man sex, and shows how he changes from a doe-eyed virgin into a man able to fuck with the best of them, the seduced to the seducer.

Taking place over the course of a day Bike Boy is a series of encounters with a variety of rough, horny men interconnected by our protagonist. The style of the encounters does veer heavily into the dominating, seduction mindset and some might be somewhat put off by the implication of forced scenarios and primal sexual aggression on display from the men that the boy meets.

It is never implied though that the boy dislikes these attentions and in fact is shown to thoroughly enjoy getting used and railed, right up to the point of climax and beyond. He accepts help and gifts from the men and socialises with them afterwards, showing that there is no ill will from his perspective. It is left to the viewer's personal tastes then if the sex displayed here is their cup of tea.

Such sexual domination is a key cornerstone of Zack's particular brand of erotica and features heavily in all of his later comic works and individual artwork. The boys squirm and cry out in the pleasure; the men growl almost like heaving beasts in heat; and there is a copious amount of dirty talk and cum being spewed everywhere. The fuck in the bushes as Bike Boy gets his cherry taken is perhaps the high point of the comic (and certainly a defining moment in the young man's sexual experiences).

Frey knew well how to maximise the amount going in each page, not a panel wasted and in fact giving plenty for the reader to enjoy. It is a long comic at twenty two pages and yet it doesn't feel unwieldy; by focusing the narrative and action on a single day in Bike Boy's life it keeps it tightly together and not boring for a moment.

The theme of sexual discovery and Bike Boy's development into a dominating young stud in his own right is a treat to see (he reminds me a bit of one of Frey's most enduring characters Rogue, although they have their strong differences in personality and outlook). The boy himself would go through some interesting character development in the sequel comic, Bike Boy Rides Again, but that is an analysis for another day.

Bike Boy is a fantastic introduction for a newcomer to Frey's works, and can stand alone as a solo work should a reader not have chance to see any of the artist's other creations. It certainly though should be enjoyed as a part of a dive into this small collection of iconic homoerotic comics and it has that most important aspect to a work of quality; it is something you can go back and enjoy again and again. If that isn't a measure of it's calibre then I don't know what is.
