The king and queen had decided upon the perfect gift for their daughter's 20th birthday! In accompaniment to the princess' request to simply travel the realm and view all of its greatest vistas, the king had also sent out his guard to secure and present her with a faun!Snatched away from her glade by sovereign powers, and nearly entirely incapable of understanding their instructions on account of their rather poor grasp of her language, this spirit of nature was flushed with intimidation to see the princess --- who immediately became teary-eyed with unbridled joy --- climb up to join her in this opulent carriage. As best she could figure, she was to play her lyre as the two traveled. Communication was otherwise impossible.Such began a surprisingly enjoyable day of travel. The princess would try to make conversation with her, but understanding was barely possible beyond gestures. Nevertheless, she seemed quite pleased with the music the faun played. And at their first stop, a kettle of exquisitely-spiced tea was shared between them while the orange leaves twirled and spun in the breeze. And following the tea, the faun would again try to fill the silence by quietly plucking arpeggios on her lyre in time with the falling leaves. Then, it was back into the carriage for more travel. The next stop would be the stony shore of a lake. More tea was imbibed. More notes were plucked, now mimicking the ripples dragged out by the wind. The princess this time headed off with a guard somewhere while the faun was directed back into the carriage --- only for the royal to return a few moments later. Another leg of the journey then started. Travel had grown slightly more tense by the time the carriage came to a stop at the foot of an impressive rock formation. There was a consequence for all these frankly delicious teas that the princess had been sharing with her; the faun needed to urinate. Of course, with no one able to understand her language, her request for the opportunity to relieve herself was met with clueless nods... And then more tea was poured. More tea was imbibed. The guards did not seem keen to allow the faun to refuse the carefully brewed drinks. Again, the princess would disappear while the faun was ushered back to into the carriage. The faun grew restless as she awaited the princess' return. The sooner they were moving, the sooner she might be to the end of whatever plans the royalty had decided for her...By the the time they'd reached the edge of a river set as the backdrop to an old, creaky water mill, the faun was desperate to urinate. She'd long since set her lyre aside so that she could focus on the increasingly difficult task of retaining all the tea she'd been drinking. Fortunately, the princess seemed keen on nodding-off during the ride now that she'd heard most of the faun's music. Unfortunately, the more pressing pleading with the guards was met with a frustrated dismissal and a finger pointing to the princess. More tea. And when she tried to turn it away, a guard cleared his throat expectantly. More tea was imbibed. Back to the carriage. And the princess disappeared yet again for a short while before returning. The faun used the opportunity to bounce her hooves against the floor of the carriage and cram her hands into her loincloth, but she'd have vastly preferred the princess returned more quickly to the carriage...Halfway to the next location, the faun could not help but rock in her seat. The luxurious silk-clad cushions on which she sat mocked her as she watched the princess sleep quietly across from her. Those cushions could not, under any circumstances, be allowed to become... wet. Yet the faun's now nasueatingly-fierce desire to urinate nevertheless teased a single droplet from between her lips. Her mind replayed, again and again, her plan to immediately squat outside the door upon their arrival at the next location. But the prospect of her making it there seemed to becoming more and more remote...Hold it. Hold it. HOLD it. She had to at least spare the carriage.
