I think the Ground Creative unit was way better. Maybe they thought it would be unfair if ground won all 3 times. But Iland had a very long narrative that I feel helped them win. The people who didn't watch the episode and just watched the performances usually stated that Ground was better. I feel really sad for my girl Gyuri. No matter how well she does, she always stays in Ground.

The whole Ryu/Yoo situation is weird indeed. Because in korean it indeed is 유, but everywhere you look they write it Ryu Sarang as her stage name, so I don’t know what her last name actually is (but going by the korean pronounciation, i think it indeed is Yoo/유). But this is basically also the case with people like Park, Lee, Shin where the english name is different, like you would say “Park Gunwook” (read with an american accent) or 박건욱.

About Sarang's family name. All family names in korea is actually a Chinese character. Sarang's family name is 柳(버들 류, 유). In general, we use 柳 as '류', but in some cases(grammar problems) we also use it as '유'. Especially in family name, it is on their family's choice whether to use '류' or '유'. So in Sarang's case, her family has chosen '유'. So most '유' chosen people write their english name 'Yoo' or 'Yu'. But some of them uses 'Ryu' because it is the general pronunciation of 柳. And Sarang seems to be the case.

The creative battle was probably the most debated battle result. Rewatching this, I would still choose the Iland Creative team to win over the Ground. In this case, whether it is fair or not, I do think Sujung's experience worked against the Ground team. It put the expectation bar too high. Similar to the introduction performances, when Monika said the expectations for the drama team was very high because they were all ranked quite high and that could have acted as a poison to them, the expectation for the Ground team would have been quite high this round due to Sujung's experience. I think if the Iland team delivered just a normal dance routine without the story, the Ground team's win would have been guaranteed. And whilst, the Ground team probably did better in terms of dance skills and technicality, I definitely found the Iland team dance routine more moving.

yeah, and it gets confusing bc I think there's also 兪 and 庾 which is JUST 유 in korean. I THINK (don't quote me) when a korean has Ryu it's the same character when a chinese person has the last name Liu

兪 and 庾 is just pronounced in 유. 柳 and 劉 are characters that can be pronounced in both 류 and 유. But unlike 柳, 劉 using people uses 유 because when it is pronounced 류, the character's meaning is to kill. And the chinese last name Liu is 劉. So all Ryu korean will be using 柳 character.

Isn’t the thing with Sarang’s surname the same case as in the surnames like 임 being Lim or Yim (😎😎)? So it just depends how you rewrite it in the English transcription

Only focusing on English transcription, yes. But Sarang's family name character 柳 is a unique case that both '유' and '류' is used as a family name. So usually '柳(유)' people uses Yu/You/Yoo when they transcript their name in English.

Nowadays, after 劉 being used as a family name, we nearly use it as a meaning of kill. For fun, obviously, there are Idols have 劉 as a family name. The most famous one would be Karina.
